Kylie Minogue - Extension: The Extended Mixes (Dec 8)

Dawn Shadforth apparently was really good at getting CGI done at low-cost back in the day, so "Can't..." might not have been as expensive as it would have been if it had been an American production. The Fever videos were likely all mid-budget.

"All the Lover" most of the money probably went on the hiring fee for Joseph Khan.

Yeah budget is really irrelevant, especially in the context of making a “good” video. Plenty of major label big budget videos just don’t hit the spot, no matter how much money went into them. It’s all about the concept and the execution, which as noted by others, can be often found in new and fresh creatives who are thinking outside the box.

There’s nothing wrong with her sticking with tried and true collaborators, but there’s still scope for experimentation.

"Can't Get You Out of My Head", "Come Into My World" and "Slow" are her holy trinity of videos.

Do they count as big budget?

"All The Lovers" was a cute, chubby-backed moment too.

Chubby backed??

I honestly think the KMO album shoot was mostly rotten all around. It’s kinda telling that the covers for Cancel was from an Ellen von Unwerth magazine shoot.
It certainly was one of her weaker ones. Aphrodite had a bunch of really bad shots too, which is a shame because of the huge pool of references Greek mythology offers.

I don't know if this is a controversial take, but I've never particularly cared for the "All The Lovers" MV. I didn't love how Kylie doesn't appear until the first chorus. Or the random Mercedes releasing balloons into the air, which I can only imagine was product placement, right? Or the elephant balloon. Also, the human pyramid doesn't become impressive until the second chorus. I get that the video is meant to depict it gradually growing, but I kind of wish that we didn't see the size of the initial pyramid.

I will say that the final human pyramid is very impressive though and the wide shots depicting it amongst the skyscrapers are kind of epic. And I did like the doves and the white horse. I'm sure that it doesn't need to be said, but Kylie does look stunning in the MV too.

There are many aspects of the All The Lovers video that are a bit off. The product placement was too much, but that was a common thing at the time I feel? The whole thing takes too long to get going but the finale really is special.
For me, Stop Me From Falling remains her absolute best video from 2010 onwards.

At least it's better than the plane scene from I Was Gonna Cancel.
You mean the sole highlight in the "I Was Gonna Cancel" MV?

Yeah, the early 2010s loved an obvious product placement in MVs. Personally, I never took issue with product placement in MVs—it was always fun to find out where Plenty Of Fish would pop up next—but it was jarring seeing it in an MV by Kylie "We re-edited "The Locomotion" MV to get rid of the Impulse product placement" Minogue, an artist who doesn't really do product placement in her MVs. Coincidentally, a cameo from Plenty Of Fish would've made so much sense in the "All The Lovers" MV.

It was awful indeed. I fail to understand how anyone (that includes Kylie herself) would give the green light both to the KMO and the DISCO covers.
