Kylie Minogue - Golden

Well, all the people saying "she can't hold a note" clearly have no clue whatsoever, because hitting the notes is not her problem, it's her tone of voice. She's very hit and miss with it, although before Golden I had a feeling, she finally found her sweet spot. But the whole era (album vocals as well as live) hasn't been a good showcase for her.

I do kind of agree with this to a small extent. I'm also wondering what has happened.

As for the breakup affecting her voice? She actually said that?! Fuck me, you give that hair plugged one WAY too much credit (and attention).

She had some of her best vocals during the Christmas shows and those were only a couple years ago. I think it has more to do with promo and nerves draining some energy out of her.
Have to agree, vocals by no means bad, we just know she can do better, as shown by the RAH shows, maybe nerves with the new (different) material, maybe just she's feeling more exposed... the Your Disco Pride performance also was certainly not her best of that song either. But you know what, its all endearing me to her even more.

I dunno what other people are hearing but Radio on sounded exactly like the album version! She couldn’t have sung it any better.

Primarily the second verse and when she says "I put the radio on" at the end of each chorus.

I'm not that concerned for her vocals overall. I just think they're not as warmed up due to the promo she's been doing. The underplays (before she went on full on promo mode) were very good despite her throat infection starting to creep in at that point. Just wish we get one televised performance where she doesn't just nail it but blows everyone away (she does it constantly in concert but the GP isn't paying as much attention at that point).

I agree, just listened myself as I recorded it earlier and her vocals are good on 'Radio On' (also brilliant on SMFF). The version of 'Radio...' was very stripped back and exposing to her voice, almost acapella. Most artist don't sound as good as that live.

I loved the performance of Radio On, gave me goosebumps.

I had an email from Nova saying they are still working on a 'solution' for the showcase in Australia, so I hope she'll be heading back over this way soon.

Stop Me continues to be a showstopper. It's such a well engineered song and comes across so well live. The way it builds and builds and ebbs and flows... so infectious. And you can tell how much she loves performing it, too. I must be blind, as I missed Florence dancing to Kylie?

I'm not sure I understand all the hand wringing over Radio On. Yes, the vocals were nasal. That's... Kylie. Yes, if she could 'open up' her vocal timbre a little more, it would be better, but she didn't seem nervous or underpowered to me. If anything, I'd hope they'd... dial up the arrangement. In live form it feels almost too acoustic and a touch flat. I bet it would gain some more presence if they, for instance, dialed up the reverb on the backup vocalists and maybe added some other layer -- steel guitar, an "organic" feeling synth or organ or string or something that fleshes the sound out without betraying the original. Anyway, for the first televised performance, I thought it was very good.

Watched back this morning and it was much better than first thought, yes nasally, but actually only most noticable in that exposed first verse. It actaully really was a lovely performance, and great that she took the "risk" of performing such an exposing song.

Stop Me From Falling however was yet another masterclass in performing the hell out of a song, she really knows how to work a crowd, loved seeing Florence enjoying it on the adjacent stage.

We do need, however, to talk about her band. Just how hot are beardy guitar guys and piano man, I know @Vasilios has first dibs after the showcase show, but woof!!
