The sustainability of her music career is linked to the success of the album which is in turn linked to the success of the singles, which you don't care about apparently.

I do care but I ultimately care about the quality of the music. I'm not a chart slore.

If you think Kylie is going to stop because a single bombs your clearly do not know miss Minogue.

I envision all of us eating our words when we hear this Enrique duet, myself included. It doesn't look great on paper, but I trust Kylie's ear for songs she'd deliver well.

I don't know why anyone's worrying about success. It's unlikely Kylie's not going to be able to sell tour tickets over night, that's all she's making music for, to keep touring and endorsements fresh.

He's got a point though. Don't get me wrong, I'm one of Kylie's biggest fans but the prospect of this Enrique duet is worrying. He hasn't had a proper hit in years, so why would his have this track lying around unused for ages if it is a proper smash?.

I don't know what you call a proper hit but his last album gave him the two biggest hits of his career. Just a li'l look at how he's done recently in Kylie's home market and the one it seems she's trying to break in to.

I Like It - x 4 Platinum US, x 3 Platinum Austalia
Tonight - x 3 Platinum US, x 2 Australia #1 Pop US, #2 ARIA Charts

Dirty Dancer - Gold US, Platinum Australia
Finally Found You - Gold US, Platinum Australia
Heartbeat - x 2 Platinum Australia

I know the era didn't really "click" with UK audiences in the same way as did with a lot of the world but as someone said he got three Top 10s out of it. At very least the duet will have that going for it. It's supposed to be mutually beneficial - it helps him in places, it helps her in some places. I don't see the problem.

Also, earlier today I showed a friend the video for ITB, afterwards we switched on MTV and the first thing that was played was the Shakira/Rihanna track. The video in itself is pretty boring but at least they were wearing a bit of high fashion and strutting around in what appeared to be a very glamorous location. The video just looked expensive, just as you'd expect a global superstar's first single video to look. It's a silly comparison, I know, but it just struck me how budget Kylie's video looks in comparison. It's really annoying because the song itself is just amazing...I'd have loved a new video that did it justice...something that started the era with a bang. Like ATL, from the first time you saw it,you just knew it was going to be one of her looks...just iconic. The visuals were just so on point...Kylie as the goddess of love being lifted to the heavens by a crowd of naked lovers. But what makes it even more frustrating is Kylie is a businesswoman first and foremost. She's no industry puppet...she makes decisions and is a creative force to be reckoned with. Why would she think that this is a good enough video to launch her first single on. It just looks so cheap?

Oh, and back on the duet subject. If ITB flops and then the duet flops, we'll be looking at a similar situation as when GOOMW flopped...i.e. the label deciding the third and final single and only giving it a minimal budget for a music video and next to no push.

Kylie's video has soul though. Rih and Shakira's is just a pretty photoshoot.

I'm also a huge Kylie fan but... Kylie hasn't had a proper hit in years either...

All The Lovers is her 2nd most successful Parlophone single, isn't it? But yes, it's been many years without a big hit.
I love her anyway.

I want Timebomb and Skirt in some edition of the album just because I hate having "random" songs without an album.

It seems as if the epidemic of negativity and arrogance that struck sayhey is starting to spread here. Perhaps we need to eradicate the hosts?

Please. I'm already sick of the idiocy.

Right? Not everything can or will be an OMG iconic moment- which is what people seem to expect.

She has a good song, a good video, and looks great. Thats good enough for me, especially seeing as she isnt far from her 30th year anniversary in music.

Re: Kylie Minogue - Kiss Me Once (Album) / Into The Blue (Single)

I don't think I'm being melodramatic, I just think an Enrique duet is a horrible idea for the UK

As long as #Beautiful peaked somewhere in the UK top 10. I'd be happy.

You shouldn't be so dismissive with Enrique Iglesias, I know he's not the IT guy anymore. But he had 3 top ten hits in 2010 while Kylie only had 1 which is All the Lovers.

I feel like this Enrique/Kylie duet is guaranteed to be a top 10 smash in the UK charts.

You get it as a digital download who you buy the 7" so it'll be out there in HQ

But, you get it in FLAC format, which is difficult to do anything with and I don't want to go downloading random software just to convert one file. I was hoping "Sparks" would be tacked on as a Japanese bonus track, since I have to have all Kylie's songs since she's my favorite popstar of all time. It's hard enough not having "Rippin' Up the Disco" in my collection, and I don't like to download illegally.
