Kylie Minogue - "Padam Padam" + Tension (Sep 22)

When she's touring Europe, there are tracks she cannot omit from the setlist (Kids, Especially, CGYOOMH and so on...), if you add a cover and the single from the album she's promoting, there's not much room left. When she's touring US, she can almost sing whatever she wants, there's no "this was a #1/#2/#3/top10 single, I have to sing it" pressure and fans will aprreciate the fact she's singing a nice little, swee album track and no fans will appreciate a nice little tune "everyone here seems to love so much"
SY is a great track, IMHO

If Madonna can go on tour without performing Like A Virgin, Material Girl, Express Yourself, Papa Don't Preach, Like A Prayer, Vogue and Hung Up every single time, then Kylie most certainly could do without Especially For You, Locomotion, Kids and the other usual suspects for once. She has a signature song and that's Can't Get You Out Of My Head, everything else could take a long break in favour of album cuts and "smaller" hits like Red Blooded Woman and Breathe, for all I care. I think the locals attending her shows will find a way to deal with it.

Kids, Especially, CGYOOMH and so on...
I feel like that list largely applies to the UK and Australia specifically, particularly the first two.

Like @SlowGinFizzzz pointed out, "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" is probably her signature song and the only one that really needs to be a tour setlist staple. She should feel the same freedom when compiling a European tour setlist as you've suggested that she feel with a US tour setlist.

I feel like we’ve said this before but she is in a different lane to Madonna, image/tour wise. You know you’re going to Madonna and you’re not getting a typical 80s medley, however bad you want it. Kylie toes the line and keeps the fan friendly songs involved.

Obviously, touring is one of the only ways she can make any real money and that’s not gonna happen without repeat customers coming for the big hits. It’s different stakes to Madonna who can book a global world tour and have people showing up regardless of her singing 90 seconds of a remixed hit. Mind you, neither way is wrong - it’s whatever works for each artist. But I personally never tire of hearing Kylie’s classics go off, and I’ll take them over deep cuts that leave the audience stone dead.

Interestingly, in the past few years, Kylie has fully banked on her legacy after a rocky couple of years and Madonna has pushed forward. Now that’s starting to shift for both of them and they’re dipping their toe in the other end of the pool. It’s fascinating to see how they keep things moving 35+ years in.

I would argue that "Love At First Sight" needs to be a setlist staple as well - a lot of people I know love that song just as much, if not more, than "Head".

I agree. Love at First Sight was one of her global hits, and it's a great pop song.

And also - her Fever2002 tour and KYLIEX2008 tour - Kylie truly focused on the albums she was promoting.

Fever2002 - how she modernised and re-worked Loco-motion and Lucky - Steve Anderson's talent in this respect is amazing!

Showgirl Homecoming - Kylie adding Too Far, Cowboy Style and Finer Feelings was such a wink and thank you to her die-hard fans.

I want Steve to disco-fy Breathe or Did it Again for her 2024 KM16 tour.

PS - I am Australian and 'Kids' is my toilet break. I think the general public suburban Mum's love this song though.
