If the next ones are singles then… 'In Your Eyes' and 'Put Your Hands Up' are next?

*prays for 'Chocolate' and 'Red Blooded Woman'*

'Put Your Hands Up' already left. And 'In Your Eyes' is too spectacular to go now. (Of course, so are 'Chocolate' and 'Red Blooded Woman,' in my opinion.)

Was 'Flower' a single? I'm kind of surprised that's still in, as much as I like it.

I was expecting to see 2 Hearts soon. I agree that it's not the great comeback single that was needed but outside of that context, even outside it being a part of X, just as a song, I have always loved it.

Well done to 2 Hearts for making this so far. A #42 placing for what has been one of her most divided opinion singles over the years is not too shabby at all. Can't believe it's taken to this long point to have a proper singles cull though!

It's hitting me that if this was the PWL rate we'd only be a few eliminations in and the end seemed ages off, but with this one I feel like the end is too close

Awww, there is still the possible Anti-Rate that could happen?

Please Stay 7.72

please_stay3ezwl_zps4ftomac7.png

Highest Score: 10 x 3 - @hawkings24, @nebojsa, @WhatKindOfKylie?
Lowest Score: 5 x 2 - @CorgiCorgiCorgi, @Bleu Noir

'Please Stay' was written by Minogue, Richard Stannard, Julian Gallagher, and John Themis. The song was chosen as the fourth single off her studio album. "Please Stay" is a midtempo dance-pop song, which differs from the album because it goes for a more mature style of Latin pop music, and is only one of Minogue's songs that are Latin-inspired songs. The song received generally positive reviews from music critics.

The chart success of "Please Stay" was quite limited, because of the release of "Your Disco Needs You", which had been protested for release worldwide. The song had peaked at number ten in the UK and number fifteen in her native Australia, where it was certificated gold by the Australian Recording Industry of Australia, selling over 35,000 copies.

An accompanying music video was shot for the single which was directed by James Frost and Alex Smith.
The video was apparently planned to be "extra camp" at Kylie's request, this was in protest of Parlophone blocking the original single choice 'Your Disco Needs You' as being "too gay" for the UK market.

Performed live on TFI Friday...

When I was compiling the scores, this track was truly punching above it's weight... don't get me wrong I like it but fuck a duck! Better than 'Fragile', '2 Hearts', 'Skirt'?!!! NO!

Anyhoo here are your comments...

Donut slags the vid...

@mrdonut - The wrong choice for Single #3 but do you know what, it isn’t that bad (dodgy video aside).

Flamenconess holds this back from perfection for hawks...

@hawkings24 -The only thing stopping this from the 11 is the "flamenconess" of it; I love it, but it would be better as a club track to be honest, like the 7th District Radio Mix.

@Anastasia Beaverhaus - adorable

WKOK noticed the cowboys...

@WhatKindOfKylie? - Such a lovely piece of chilled out mid-tempo pop, which makes a nice breather following the thud, thud sounds of the first 7 songs. For me I think 'Please Stay' deserves much more recognition and respect. It's rather lovely as is the video with Kylie at her 70's homage best and those tight shirt/jeans hunks!!!

Ray likes others more...

@Ray - On an album full of potential hits this as a single choice would mark Kylie’s Parlophone phase when every album would come up with one questionable single choice. “Please Stay” is perfectly serviceable and there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just one of the less memorable tracks here. I’d pick about six other songs as singles before getting to this one.

These Madge references aren't stopping...

@AlmostFamous - it made sense as a single at the time, but I think it's a bit like her 'Dear Jessie' in that other songs were far better on the album and as singles.

Candy is possibly on a lone mission here?...

@One Stop Candy Shop - I kinda want a flamenco-pop revival in 2016.

Simple and cute?

@tylerc904 - This gets a hard time around here, but I’ve always loved it. The video, much like the song, is simple and cute.

Cute but forgettable?

@2014 - love the production, it’s cute but a bit forgettable.

RRS thought this was a poor single choice?

@RRS - Not a fan of this, its ok, but was a poor single choice. There were plenty of better options. This is bland in comparison to the rest of the album.

These three love the song, but again didn't want a single release...

@idratherjack - The first of my "why on earth was this a single?!" of the rate. Pleasant enough little tune but overshadowed by about half the album. Inoffensive lowkey bop.
@Remorque - This is a pleasant, breezy little listen, but it had absolutely no right to be given single-status.
@Pop Gaz - The Spanish guitars are great, and it really is a lovely little pop song, of course it shouldn’t have been the last single though, but a great song.

Kylie farts?! *mind blown*

@Andsov - In the early 2000s Kylie could have released farts on record and make the top 10. Imagine if she released this today. Haha. It doesn't exactly scream top 10 does it. I like it though! The melody is great and I love how the attempt to make it a little Latino just fails. Pure pop.

Sophia wanted disco...

@SophiaSophia - Easily the weakest on the Light Years I wish the UK got 'Disco Down' or 'Your Disco Needs You' as a single instead of this.

Mikey rediscovered this "hidden gem"...

@Mikey1701 - A hidden gem amongst her singles that I’ve long loathed simply because we were denied 'Disco Down' as the final single, this rate has let me reevaluate 'Please Stay' and I’ve found that it’s a rather lovely Latin bop. I still don’t think its strong enough to be a single but it’s a damn good album track.

Summed up here...

@SloMover - Cute little summer Latin bop right here.

Nooooooo not Please Stay. If there is ever a museum of 2000s pop this would be the entrance music. It so perfectly encapsulates turn of the millienium pop. Its not a classic hit it is so of its time but does it perfectly and I love it for talking me back to a time of smash hits magazine and mock gsce revision.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone in loving the "Please Stay" video! It's basic, sure, but Kylie's charisma makes it one of my favorites. It's so camp and joyful and she looks like she's having so much fun. I especially love the part where she gives the pinball machine a booty bump.

Also, I would totally support a flamenco pop revival!

100 Degrees (With Dannii Minogue) 7.73

Highest Score: 10 x 15 - @Markus1981, @Remorque, @SmashHitter, @Markus1981, @Remorque, @hawkings24, @nebojsa, @WhatKindOfKylie?, @Ray, @Pop Gaz, @RRS, @Mjg0806, @Jam, @SophiaSophia, @Mikey1701
Lowest Score: 3 x 1 - @Andsov

"100 Degrees" is a song performed by Australian singer-songwriter Kylie Minogue, featuring her sister Dannii Minogue. Kylie wrote "100 Degrees" about adapting to a winter Christmas in the UK after being raised in Australia and was inspired by Donna Summer's vintage disco classics.

Dannii's description of '100 Degrees':

"There's not enough party Christmas songs, everyone has Christmas parties, but what music do you put on? This song is perfect for dancing to"

On 16 November, Kylie announced '100 Degrees' as a single on the The X Factor Australia where she also confirmed that she would perform the track alongside Dannii on the season's grand final on 24 November. In a statement, Kylie said, "I'll be bringing a little Christmas cheer to The X Factor stage, I can't wait to come home and perform on the show with Dannii." This was to be the duos first performance together since their live performance of "Kids" on her Showgirl: The Homecoming Tour in 2006 and first televised performance together since they performed "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves" on Young Talent Time in 1986.

Performed on The X-Factor Australia...

Live at Kylie's Albert Hall Christmas show...

7th Heaven mix...

Drag Queen flashmob on Bondi Beach!

(A new set of remixes were premiered at Sydney Mardi Gras in 2016, with a "disco twist".)

Awww, it's done so bloody well! The most camp Christmas song ever released and I fucking love it!!!

The praise was overflowing...

Donut feels 5 years will make a difference...

@mrdonut - I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy this as much in 5 years’ time but come on, it’s two flawless queens doing 70s disco and the world needs more flawless queens and 70s disco.

Yes!!!!!!!!

@hawkings24 - Disco Christmas all the way

WKOK is the first of many...

@WhatKindOfKylie? - Festive slutdrop alert as @idratherjack would say, and indeed it is! This collaboration between sisters Min, was everything I wanted and more! It's camp on a sheer scale, but that is what makes it utterly brilliant. A dance floor anthem for every Christmas season.

Best Christmas song ever?

@Ray - I just rated this 10 today for the Dannii rate. It's possibly the best Christmas song I ever heard, and it's January and I still listen to it non-ironically.

Legendary and Atomic Kitten...same sentence...

@AlmostFamous - I think this will go down as legendary to fans. They both sound like they're having a ball. It does have a bit of Atomic Kitten 'Right Now' about it...

Candy hears blandness?!

@One Stop Candy Shop - I always feel that this song is not as good as it could be. I'm all here for a Minogue Sisters Disco X-Mas but the chorus is just a bit bland, isn't it?

Gaz is totally here for that poppers remix...

@Pop Gaz - How could this not be a 10/10, Kylie with Danni in full disco mode. Could only be improved with a gay-tastic remix that G.A.Y. can blast out every year…oh, wait, we even got one of those!

Huge love for the sisters collaboration!

@RRS - Finally, a quality track (and it’s disco!) and the sisters are together, knocking it out of the park. The performances were incredible. This is amazing, I’m so glad they got something good for the collaboration.
@idratherjack - Sisters are doing it for themselves! The one Christmas song it's OK to listen to all year round. Kylie and Dannii together at last and they don't disappoint delivering us a festive slutdrop anthem for the ages.

GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!

@Andsov - I loved the performances and all the love this song got. But it’s not for me. And as much as I LOVE Kylies voice and appreciate the Minogue tone; when they sing together I think of two strangled cats in a bag.

*Sad*

@SloMover - Severely overrated.

This is heaven for Sophia...

@SophiaSophia - My favourite duet and new favourite xmas song just completely fabulous. So worth the wait cause Kylie & Dannii + Disco = Heaven.

Slugdropping from here until the care home kicks you out...

@Mikey1701 - Festive Slutdop Anthem. Only could Kylie and Dannii record something shamelessly camp and get away with it. You can practically feel the glitter raining down from this kitsch extravaganza. The 7th Heaven Radio Edit takes it to a whole other level. Expect me to wheel this out every December and get my life.

and finally, Remorque is here for a gay Christmas...

@Remorque - Is this the gayest Christmas song of all time? I love it that both these icons released something like this in 2015. I definitely get my kicks from it and even in February I can still listen to this one...

Awwww
