Can't beat the feeling sums up perfectly what i like about Kylie. It's happy explosive and euphoric, the perfect album closer.

It would've been my 11 in a world without Love at first sight and Kiss me once.

I was the only 11 for Cherry Bomb?! If I strut to Speakerphone, I glide, mince, moon walk, pop lock, break dance, and rattle my castanets when Cherry Bomb comes on. It's bonkers and brilliant and it deserves higher. The anti rate performance cemented this as perhaps one of my favourite Kylie songs EVER. Top 3 at least!

Fuck you all. <3

Glad Sporks is out.

"Feels like you light me up"?!

All this time I thought she was singing "feels like I'm in the air" which I prefer! Flop Sparks fan.

Sad to see it go but never thought it would ever last this long in the first place.

"Flower" was written by Minogue and Steve Anderson for her tenth studio album X. However it didn't make the final cut. Minogue wrote the song in 2007, along with many other songs while she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Kylie described the song as:

"a love song to the child I may or may not ever have".

In 2011, the song was re-recorded at London's Abbey Road Studios for the orchestral compilation album The Abbey Road Sessions. The song was released as the first single from the album on 25 September 2012 by Parlophone Records. It premiered on BBC Radio 2 on 24 September 2012. The song received positive reviews from music critics, with critics enjoying the lyrical message and the production. A music video was shot for the single which premiered on Minogue's website.

In the United Kingdom, "Flower" was ruled ineligible to chart on the UK Singles Chart. This is because the song was served as a free download when the public pre-ordered The Abbey Road Sessions, and the inclusion criteria insists that song's can eligible to chart if its served as a digital download and CD single. However, when The Abbey Road Sessions was released, the song charted at number ninety-six on 4 November 2012.

The accompanying video was shot in Cornwall, England on 12 August 2012 and filmed in black and white. It was directed by Kylie herself...

"I wanted to direct the video as I have always known how I wanted to illustrate the song."

It was released on 25 September 2012 on YouTube as part of Minogue's 'K25' celebrations where her Twitter followers had to unlock the video by tweeting the hashtag '#KylieFlower' 25,000 times. In three days, the video got more than 1 million views on YouTube

Live on the X2008 tour...

Performed at the Proms In The Park with a full orchestra...

This is a hard song to listen to sometimes, it's so gorgeous but also really really sad. The lyrics just crush me.

It was praised from the beginning of this rate, so the comments are mostly positive.

Loveliness...

@mrdonut - Ah that chorus is lovely isn’t it.

Kylie definitely delivers stunning ballads...

@Sprockrooster - When a Kylie-ballad is good, it is devastatingly good! That video is so extremely fitting too!

Ever the complimentary person is our hawks...

@hawkings24 - Cute song

WKOK feels privileged...

@WhatKindOfKylie? - Sublime. It's as simple as that. Feel privileged to have witnessed this sung live in the KYLIEX2008 tour, and remember being so happy when I heard she had at last recorded a studio version of it. Honest, open and touching and a song that would surely melt the hardest of hearts.

Ray got bored, again...

@Ray - It’s very pretty and lush and slow motion video-ish. It’s also a bit boring.

Gaz praises "amazing" Kylie...

@Pop Gaz - Just gorgeous, Kylie is an underrated ballad singer, but this just shows how amazing she can be with such material.

RRS praises the track and also makes the rate host jealous...

@RRS - Such a beautiful ballad, so glad we eventually got a studio version. Also the video was shot 20 miles away from where I live so that was pretty cool. It’s so sad, but great to hear a song that is totally heartfelt.

Only our Kylie...

@Andsov - 'Flower' was such a moment on the X tour, it should've been left alone. A studio version was always going to remove some of that magic. That said, it really is a beautiful song and it fitted nicely on the Abbey Road Sessions. Unpopular pop opinion alert: I loved the Abbey Road Sessions. I can't believe she pulled it off. Only Kylie.

Another person hears a dull (personal) song...

@idratherjack - Her most personal song is also sadly a little on the dull side.

It affects Sophia...

@SophiaSophia - This makes me emotional every time I play it.

Gorgeous words from Mikey to round this off...

@Mikey1701 - Her best ballad since 'Put Yourself In My Place'. Knowing that it’s Kylie talking to the child she may never have makes the entire thing absolutely harrowing and moving. Just so, so beautiful.

More later!

"a love song to the child I may or may not ever have".
Please immediately change my score to 10 and my commentary to "Touching, lovely, sweet, heartbreaking and now I really want to give Kylie a big hug and let hew know she is loved, wanted and needed and that I hope one day all her dreams come true".

No, seriously. I had no idea it was about anything because I'm a terrible person and I skip it halfway through.

Flower is absolutely stunning. It is one of those songs that can be a hard listen knowing the subject matter, but Kylie as always goes beyond that and pulls of just on its own something magical. Her most unique ballad personally.

My beloved labrador was put to sleep a short while before this was released, and this song helped me process my loss... I didn't really deal with it at the time, and a few months later I was struggling with the loss. I was in an unfamiliar, unfriendly city for uni and felt so isolated, and this soothed my feathers. I never really told anyone, because you never know how any random person reacts to another person grieving over a pet, and had kindof forgotten about it, until the reddit chat with Kylie two years ago (the one where Kylie responded at length to my question about how she felt about her material leaking, and then funnily enough a couple of hours later three X demos hit the net) and one of the the other responses she gave was to a fan who said that Flower helped her get over the death of her dog too. Right there and then I felt a massive connection to a stranger somewhere else in the world. That's the power of music. No one should belittle its abilities.
