Kylie Minogue - Tension Tour 2025

NOT me quoting and contradicting myself but I’d also love it for once she’d perform her golden oldies IN THEIR ORIGINAL ARRANGEMENTS….imagine the dopamine hit of her performing the 7” mixes of What Do I Have To Do or The Loco-Motion? She performed the latter a few years ago on Ant and Dec (albeit briefly) and it was sugar for the soul.
The 80s original of The Loco-Motion, feels like an age she performed that and would be the one rendition of this I'd like most of all.

I think she’s done a good job with the setlist at appealing to old fans, new fans, and fans around the world who might never have seen her before.

Staging however? No one is expecting the huge production days of X or Les Folies, but there is a bare minimum of production you expect at a Kylie show. I keep seeing “minimal” and “sleek” being banded around as era descriptions in defence but that to me says raised on stage by lift, not walking on stage at the end of an interlude hoping most of the audience don’t see you until the song starts.

Even the last Steps tour did more with the staging, with lifts and moving elements, and no disrespect meant here but they should not be a benchmark for a Kylie Minogue Tour. If she wanted a stage of screens and little else, look to the SZA arena tour on how to incorporate levels and give visual intrigue.
I couldn't agree more. When I saw her walking up the stairs to her mark and then to the B-stage, my heart sank a little.

I would lose everything.

Honestly, I really don't care. This is going to be my first time seeing Kylie live. I'm beyond stoked to have even gotten tickets. She could sing My Secret Heart, Kids, and I Was Gonna Cancel then leave, and I'd still be happy.

It won't be my first show, but will be my first show in the first row and I'm shaking to see my pop princess live up close (and I really doubt I'll have time to look at anything other than Kylie)

Me actually being in Perth and physically hearing people discuss the show, she is getting flack for it nn. I've actually had a few people basically say to me at work "How was the concert? I've heard it was a bit shit"

I still had a fantastic night, but I'd be lying if I didn't want it to be a bit more... how do I word this, umm... faggy? (dd) I wanted loads of outfit changes, glitter, feathers, props, neon colours. But instead we did largely get Kylie wearing red track pants looking like she'd just done a class at the gym.

Did I have a good time? Yes. Did I also think it would be more of a spectacle and she missed quite a bit out/it lacked WOW factor? Also yes.

This is all pretty sad to see - the disappointment from much of the fanbase, some poor press, and the seeming lack of spectacle, artistry, or mood from the show. All while she’s coming off what was the height of her career with Padam. And after some vocal backlash, the show gets scaled back even more by removing a fan favorite and a random verse?

I don’t think I’d still be traveling or attending any of my planned shows if Romy wasn’t in the opening slot. And even still I’ll probably scale back to just one date. She’s still very obscure in the US. It will be interesting to see what happens in places like Atlanta, Denver, and Orlando where tickets aren’t moving.

Kylie can absolutely shine for two hours on stage without bells and whistles. I thought for example that the Golden Tour was fantastic to see in person and I absolutely loved the Intimate & Live and On A Night Like This tours.
But as others have pointed out this tour still feels more like a one off festival gig than a full scale tour. The video below is certainly giving me that vibe.

Golden was a much more limited thing so it was understandable that there was not much going on production wise. Kylie still delivered 100%. From what I have seen with Tension, it feels way too bare and uninspired considering what Kylie has always delivered in the past, big or small.

In any case, I´m sure Kylie being the performer that she is will still make this a fun experience for everyone attending the shows. A global Kylie tour in 2025 is just something I would have envisioned to be a little bit more inspired.

She sounds great, the screens/lights/lazers/smoke/confetti look great. The only thing that irks me really is the placement of band on the two pedestals. Too static & visible. Kick them down & add some LED stage props/structures there. Supernova looks lush in the video, they've obviously got plenty of tech and options. Wasn't keen on spoiling the tour for myself, but oh well.

I think it will be interesting to see how she gets on in Melbourne/Sydney, the two glamour cities in Oz so to speak and with the higher audiences rates. Kylie had such a great time in Las Vegas that she was wantin gto try and re-create this level of intimacy and hence taking requests on the B stage certainly looks that way she is trying to re-create the success of vegas and incorporate that into this show.

It will be interesting to see how this works in a large setting. I mean she got 5 out of 5 from the guardian newspaper and they have never given her 5 stars for her previous tours, they are usually quite snooty about this sort of thing, only madonna and taylor swift are the other two divas to get 5 star reviews from that paper.
