Kylie Minogue - Tension

Last night really was a blast - Kylie on top form as always. I know some have mentioned it feeling a bit ‘stop and start’ but it’s a TV special with Q&A spots - it’s quite obvious it wasn’t going to be fluid like a regular concert. I think it worked wonderfully and personally I enjoyed seeing her filming the little adverts and banter in between performances.
Love At First Sight really went off big-time at the end so it will be shame if it’s not included in the broadcast, as Kylie mentioned it wouldn’t be.

Andrew Scott getting his life at this is warming my heart on this freezing winter day.

I wish she would take risks and perform more obscure lesser known tracks in her shows like she did with the Fever and X tours, both of the back of really successful albums too

I also think she needs someone else working with Steve Anderson on live arrangements. His work is good and has some moments of brilliance but largely doesn’t sound as fresh anymore.

I think one of the reasons why Brothers In Rhythm really worked was because Dave Seaman is out of that vanilla pop landscape that Anderson is firmly in.

Golden Tour had some great moments in terms of tour mixes but I agree overall the 2000s ones were much more interesting, not sure what has happened.

Slow was great as per usual. Everything else on Golden seemed a bit 'adult easy listening radio'. The Fever tour is the pop standard for any pop star and not just Kylie, where EVERY arrangement was a fresh take. Highlights being Lucky/Dreams and Limbo/Push Upstairs.

I feel like now we're just getting Steve Anderson twiddling some nobs for a slightly new arrangement from the last tour, which is fine for TV specials and Las Vegas. But we need some dramatically new arrangements for the Tension tour.

I should be so lucky/dreams mash up still sounds fresh today

We need more of that

Her absolute commercial peak and she featured in the tour

Finer feelings
Cowboy style
GBI
Limbo
Dreams

A mega fans wet dream

It goes to show that you can incorporate some really deep, deep, deep Kylie cuts into an intro, medley, setlist break without sacrificing the major hits and keep diehard fans happy.

Thank you for saying this. I have been trying to figure out why am I not overly excited at seeing my favourite pop star perform live next. I was offered tickets for the Albert Hall show but decided not to fork out the £75. Is it because I have seen her 15 times? Possibly. But my gut feeling is because I feel like what I love about Kylie is not progessing to the musicality of the live right now which includes the song choices, or more maybe those productions. Padam and Tension have been the most musically excited I've been about her in ages, so I can see she still has the drive, but the recent shows have basically descended into Glasto rehashes plus the new tunes... is this a Steve thing or a Kylie thing? ‍I'm not sure but it's quite clear the live needs to be mixed up a bit to keep the die hards happy come the next phase of live events, whatever shape or form that mat be.
What I do know is that maybe Fever tour should be used as a benchmark musically as to how to integrate back cat with more well known Kylie songs. Time to mix it up and show the younger generation that has been gained via Padam why Kylie is queen.

Even Infinite Disco had GREAT reinterpretations of the older songs so it's a bit strange as to why Kylie's recent performances have felt a bit stale musically.
