The original works so well because of the urgency of her slinky delivery. There isn’t a moment to spare.
On this acoustic, and on American Idol, there were too many unnecessary vocal flourishes. It turns it into a cruise ship karaoke.
I hope she sticks closer to the original delivery in performances going forward because this style completely neuters what makes the song so special.
