Kylie Minogue - Tension

I’m really digging the fact not one remix has come out officially. The focus is entirely on the original version (and now it’s extended mix).
Almost 90% sure remixes will be bashed mercilessly as they’ll alter the original ‘je ne sais quoi’ that’s connecting with so many people. I’m sure they foresee that too. Hence why there’s no hurry. It’s a sensible decision.

Should’ve whacked out some CDs with the extended mix artwork on as well, that would’ve got more sales out of the CD collectors.

I can see why they’re saving the signed editions until the album release though.

It's why I haven't pre ordered the album yet, waiting for the signed ones

Jessica Wild giving Latina Grace Jones is something I never knew I needed.

I don’t understand the over-the-top praise for Kandy. She wasn’t bad but she wasn’t great. And I just kept thinking I wish this was Alyssa Edwards.

Angeria should have won that lip sync. She was serving face with that Grace Jones song but the camera just wasn’t on her enough so it was clear the producers didn’t want her to win.

I take breaks from Padaming by listening to Voices and honestly it might be one of the best duets/collaborations she's done. Nick Cave is obviously first but I currently can't think of something matching it for second (it's not the highest bar mind you but still, it's such a solid track).

I think it's one of her best collabs too, and I've been obsessed with it. It's the Indiekylie etherealness to padams glossy modern sheen.

Kylie's rose to #1 on the Independent Singles chart, debuts at #1 on the Physical Singles chart and continues her #1 run on the Downloads and the Sales chart. Up to #33 from #58 on Streaming.it’s great Kylie is number 1 on another chart but hardly indie in any sense of the word and even less with a major label like BMG

It’s great Kylie is number 1 on another chart but in no way is Kylie and Padam on a major label indie in any way.

The charts these days are nothing but a load of bollocks.

Next there will be a LGBT chart and Kylie will be forever more at number 1 here in the UK.

BMG is in fact an independent label. It was only set up in 2008, and is short for BMG Rights Management. It's a label services company. Yes it's got deeper pockets than a lot of other indie labels (besides XL Recvordings who have Adele and The Prodigy money to play with) but their business plan is to go 50/50 with the artists they work with. If BMG spends 1 million, then Kylie/Darenote spends a million, and they get an even split, rather than thetraditional major label arrangement where, for instance, EMI/Parlophone spends 10 million on promo without asking and then charges it to Kylie before she sees a penny in sales income.

You're perhaps thinking of the old BMG which merged and was then folded into Sony about 18 years ago.

Playlisted by Kiss and Capital.... and Radio 1 still haven't playlisted it this week. Instead, they've playlisted Zara Larsson's new ballad (?!) which is doing nothing on the charts. Make it make sense.
I am 43 years old.

I was seven when Kylie had her first hit single.

I'm hearing from people young enough to be my kids, who weren't even around/old enough to notice when Can't Get You Out Of My Head was released, saying that they love this song. What more do you think Radio 1 would actually do? You afford them more relevance than they actually have in 2023.

Yes ageism suck, yes radio 1 suck for being anti women over 40, yes it would be nice if they changed. But in 2023 it is such a non issue. Kylie has managed to hit #12 in the charts, be introduced to a whole new generation of people and has seen a huge boost in her streaming presence. All of which would have happened with or without Radio 1. The fact she's done so well is proof of how little it matters.
It's not 2010 where being playlisted on Radio 1 was of the upmost importance and where their misogyny and ageism were at it's peak. The power of Radio 1 is so minimal, nobody really cares who they do or don't play. They are stuck in their ways and won't change even if they lose listeners, which they are. And even if Kylie made the playlist, it would be of little consequence anyway as the same people who listen to it would already know it from playlists on streaming.
