Still my favorite track, Real Groove is in the best 40 dance songs 2021 by Billboard!

Kylie Minogue & Dua Lipa, “Real Groove” (Studio 2054 Version, Initial Talk Remix)
Last year, Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue teamed up with Dua Lipa for a new version of “Real Groove,” from Minogue’s 2020 album Disco. Then in March, Japanese producer Initial Talk remixed this collaboration, turning it into a true duet. Their previously layered vocals were separated, which allowed the women to play off each other in the ’80s-centric edit. Initial Talk also backed this dream team with retro synth-pop reminiscent of Minogue’s early days and completely in line with Lipa’s Future Nostalgia aesthetic. The irresistible remix felt familiar, yet fresh, while reiterating Queen Kylie’s staying power on the dance floor. — L.V.

One of the most admirable things about Kylie is her dedication to developing herself as an artist and as a vocalist. She's clearly spent a lot of time with vocal coaches and as a result is a really consistent live performer. Kylie could have achieved a 'that's good enough' plateau - plenty of other artists have - and put on similar shows, with the same choreography and setlists ad ininitum to support each album cycle. Combine her live work with her work ethic - she throws herself into promo as though it's the early years of her career - and she's a strong pop proposition. She doesn't seem to take herself too seriously, but she's deadly serious about the music that's released and shows she puts on.

I actually haven’t heard anyone say Kylie can’t sing. She has such a reputation for putting on great concerts.

I personally think there is no better pop voice than Kylie’s. Something that becomes really clear when someone covers her songs.

Anytime she performs on The One Show or The Voice etc you always get knobheads on Twitter saying it. Saying that though these are the same twats that claim she mimes...

If Kylie's voice just isn't your thing then that's fine, you can say that. I don't like a singer = they can't sing is right out of the boomer handbook, and is almost never, if ever, applied to male vocals. TV shows like The One Show are hardly the best place to showcase your vocal and their audio team will always mix your vocal louder than the backing track which never does anyone any favours, wether it's a live band or a backing track. I also feel like the "they can't sing" thing has also increased intensity since multitude of TV singing competitions reinforced the belief that the only worthwhile female vocal was a Whitney Houston vocal.

I really wish Kylie had been booked to blast out that operatic outro to "Your Disco Needs You" on The X Factor in its prime. She'd still get the same comments, but boy, what a moment that coulda been back then.

I just went for a Christmas Eve walk around the city of London and Lost Without You came on my phone. I hadn't heard it for 2 years. "The universe was ours and then it disappeared ... but the sky is still blue" got me again and had me welling up! She just sounds so vulnerable and sad, but also a bit hopeful. It's such a beautiful moment in a gorgeous song.
