Kylie Minogue

On Greatest Remix Hits Vol 1 there's a 7:07 mix of What Do I Have To Do just suffixed 'remix' - it's essentially an extended version - but I wonder if anyone knows who mixed it? It has some awesome bleeps added to it. (I don't know where my CD is to check the inlay).

It's mixed by Pete Hammond....sometimes it's called 'UK Remix' (in Oz I think) but over here it's generally called the 'Between The Sheets' Mix.

It's available on vinyl on both the Aus and French 12 inch copies of What Do I Have To Do. It was going to be released on vinyl in the UK a week after the release of the 'regular' 12 inch but was pulled, although you can get it on vinyl in the UK as a white label.

As someone who was a single buyer from 1996 through to 2003 (the CD1/CD2/MC era) it just feels like I missed an era of collecting where I could buy a single the week it came out in three or four formats and then a week or two later another two or three formats. Okay some of it was just the exact same 12" but with a poster or a gatefold sleeve or a picture disc but it truly sets off the same chemicals in my brain as 2020s pre-order bundles.

Hand On Your Heart (the great Aorta Mix)

it wasn’t until I did my nursing degree that I realised what a genius name that was

I feel like someone could make a great article out of explaining all the SAW remix "names". I was obsessed with koi fish when I was five so the "Kohaku" and "Sanke" mixes of "The Loco-motion" tickled me. And of course, keeping koi was probably a big marker of having disposable cash in the 80s so I presume Pete was right into it, along with his trainsets and displaying all his platinum discs with the subtlety of a cigar-smoking American label A&R guy.

On the subject of "The Loco-motion" mixes is one an extended LP version and the other extended single version? I can never tell, I just know I prefer the album mix.

Were you not taught that at school? Maybe it changed since the 80s.

Can only speak from my Scottish Education highschools experience, but after BSE anything biology related was largely shunted to Biology rather than the generic Science subject you got for the first two years in high school, which was largely a mix of Chemistry and Physics. Probably spent one whole hour out of the two years on the human body.

Even when I look at the word aorta, it makes me think of Classics/Latin class rather than Biology/Science.

I think we were the first year to the full 2 years of GCSE and I chose PE as one of my subjects. I am sure that was because we also did biology and not just play football or rugby in sports at our school.
