Kylie Minogue

I've always found the title track to be dragging on a bit... could've been at least a minute shorter.
I Guess I Like It Like That (edit) should have been on there along with Do You Dare and Closer.
There was an edit of it on the Celebration single (it’s on Spotify/Apple Music too, as part of the Celebration single bundle).

Oh wow, no! If You Were With Me Now is so so gorgeous and one of my favourite Kylie ballads. She sounds heavenly on it, the contrast with Keith's voice is *chef's kiss*.
You’re so right!! I don’t really hate it, it just doesn’t fit in as well with the other tracks for me. She looks drop dead in the video though, perfection.

Honestly she was serving in all of the Let’s Get To It videos.

Without the success of Give Me Just A Little More Time, Kylie’s fortunes could’ve been different, and not in a good way. It may not be a classic, but it helped her salvage the toxic press surrounding the Word Is Out video. It was a much needed sizeable hit that happened at the right time.
Oh yes, it did have it's place in that respect, I won't deny that. Still much prefer the other three singles though. Finer Feeling's UK #11 peak however felt like a smash compared to the dismal showing in Australia-#60!

Golden should’ve leant into the Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac influences mentioned a bit more - it would’ve been less dress-up and more of a natural fit for Kylie. Also would’ve been a cute opportunity for the retropop press/fans to be all “Kylie would also rather Fleetwood Mac than Jack!”

But whatever, the album did what it needed to do to re-establish Kylie and it has it’s fan so job done.

I adore Golden. It was nice to have a more personal record after the years of more “faceless” (but not bad) music. That being said, I do wonder how something like Rewind was left off the record. Even Tambourine would've been a cute bonus track.
I haven’t heard the track, but since Impossible Princess bombed, Kylie’s MO has always been please everyone and be everything to as many people as possible. It has enhanced her appeal but also diluted her projects (KMO and Body Language both say HI!!). So, I’m not surprised. But I hope things change soon.

With a new album coming this year, and Disco 3 years old (so the new music bias has worn off), I've decided to rank the studio albums

1 X
2 Impossible Princess
3 Fever
4 Rhythm Of Love
5 Kylie Minogue
6 Light Years
7 Golden
8 Aphrodite
9 Kiss Me Once
10 Disco
11 Body Language
12 Kylie
13 Let's Get To It
14 Enjoy Yourself
15 Kylie Christmas

I’ve only listened to a few Kylie albums but Fever & Body Language are both great! I wasn’t really feeling Light Years at all!

I don’t know what the general consensus is of that album but I found it to be very cringe/cheesy apart from the singles which are some of the best and I don’t think they represent the album I think Disco Down being the only album track that stuck with me. Loveboat & Koocachoo are pretty awful, maybe I need more time with it.

Also Aphrodite is pretty strong at least the first half is great second a little fillery.

I’m In the same place with Kylie Minogue that it just isn’t doing it for more outside the single but Impossible Princess is really amazing! Reading about the lukewarm reception and sluggish sales at the time, the world really did her wrong on that one.

I’ve yet to listen to the others but huge discography like this will take ages for me to digest properly.

I spent much of this past week figuring out my top 100 Kylie songs so maybe this playlist will make your task somewhat easier. I realise these things are subjective but from what you've mentioned, it seems "your taste, it mirrors mine". (Track 51!)

Is it an unpopular Kylie opinion to favour the album versions of tracks over the single versions? I feel like in nearly every incidence I prefer the album version. Where is the Feeling is one of the ones where I like both version equally. And I switch between both versions of The One. However, tracks like Shocked and Breathe it’s album version all the way.

What do I have to do single version is definitely superior for me.

he / him
I don't know if it's because my first introduction to "Shocked" was the DNA Mix or if it's because I've grown up in a time where shorter songs are the norm, but I can't with the album version of "Shocked." A minute and a half of instrumental before the song actually starts feels unnecessarily self-indulgent.
