Kylie Minogue

Doing my own Kylie rate and I’d forgotten just how basic Enjoy Yourself is. The debut is actually a great pop album- Enjoy Yourself just tried to replicate it in a rush with naff results!

SAW used their A-Grade album material for Donna that year. Kylie got a handful of A game singles and 2 great album tracks and whole ass lot of filler.

Enjoy Yourself's pivot to the retro-leaning 50s and 60s sounds makes zero sense to me. That being said, I wasn't alive at the time. Was a doo-wop comeback happening during the late 80s?

People have suspected some of the songs started life as soundtrack ones for Kylie's film which was set in the 50s.

LORD I had forgotten how grim the storyline was
Lola and Brownie are teenagers in 1950s Bundaberg, Australia. They fall in love, but because of their age they must fight their parents and welfare, who try to keep them apart. Lola falls pregnant and the couple run away so they can keep their baby. However, Lola's mother and the police find them and take Lola home.

Brownie joins the crew of a ship so he can sail the coast and look for Lola. He befriends a sailor called Bosun, who offers him a job.

Meanwhile, Lola is forced to have an abortion by her mother in Brisbane.
Could they not have her star in a film as an 80s girl leaving Australia to become a pop star?

Not me knowing nothing about the film, aside from seeing some of the promo images, and assuming that it was like a Grease pastiche or something.
