Kylie Minogue

As today is the anniversary of the release of I Should Be So Lucky waaaaaay back in 1987 I decided to work on a brand new remix of the track and give it a more "club" feel. Taking cues from the PWL Italo House sounds used in 1990 and beyond with the likes of Lonnie Gordon, I have reconstructed the track with new drums, synths & house piano whilst retaining the original vocal and bass from the 12" remix. I hope you enjoy what I have done here!

Wow (no pun intended) thanks for this @WhatKindOfKylie? ! Seeing it all like this shows for the first twenty years of Kylie's career she was having some incredible career peaks and artistry at least every five years. Not a lot of pop girlies have ever managed to remotely sustain, or bounce back quite as hard after their own misfires, career dips etc in such big way at all.

Indeed, she is truly of those all time icons who have seen and done it all! Once again, long may she reign!

Across her time from Parlophone and beyond, there is only ever a handful of songs from each album I regularly revisit. That’s not to say I don’t listen to others, just these are my natural go to songs. Some are obvious choices, others are rather ‘interesting’:

Light Years - ‘Spinning Around’, ‘Disco Down’, ‘Your Disco Needs You’ & ‘Light Years’

Fever - ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, ‘Fever’, ‘In Your Eyes’, ‘Love Affair’ & ‘Burning Up’

Body Language - ‘Secret (Take You Home)’ & ‘Red Blooded Woman’

X - ‘Like A Drug’, ‘Speakerphone’, ‘Sensitised’ & ‘In My Arms’

Aphrodite - ‘Get Outta My Way’

Kiss Me Once - ‘I Was Gonna Cancel’, ‘Sexercise’ & ‘Les Sex’

Golden - ‘Sincerely Yours’, ‘Lost Without You’ & ‘Raining Glitter’

Disco - ‘Monday Blues’, ‘Last Chance’, ‘I Love It’, ‘Where Does the DJ Go’ & ‘Dancefloor Darling’

Tension - ‘Padam Padam’, ‘Hold On To Now’ & ‘Things We Do for Love’

Tension 2 - ‘Good as Gone’, ‘Taboo’ & ‘Someone for Me’

Other songs not attached to eras that are staples of my Kylie mix include, ‘Timebomb’, ‘I Believe In You’, ‘Crystalise’ & ‘Higher’

It's amazing that 35 years into her career she released ANOTHER signature hit with the general public. Artists with the kind of legendary status struggle enough to get a Top 10 hit in this era of streaming.
Indeed, she's had at least one massive hit per decade, quite a feat. Padam Padam, will easily be in her top 5 biggest ever sellers one day am sure.

What's the most unsettling here isn't 35 years of Better the Devil You Know etc but 5 years since Disco/Say Something!

I randomly gave 'Body Language' a spin for the first time in about 20 years and she had no right serving such elegant pop to 16 year olds like me. 'Loving Days' is surely one of her most lovely slower songs. Is this album generally considered underrated or what? I don't hear much chat about it.
It's certainly divisive. I'm very much in the camp of loving it, but there are some people who have...strong opinions about it (Hi @Mikey1701).

They/them, he/him

Secret (Take You Home) is one of her best. I just wish the rest of the album hit that high standard. I don’t have as strong opinions on the album these days, but I would never willingly “use” it.
