Better Than Today 6.88

Highest Score: 10 x 7 @clowezra, @DJHazey, @WoW73,
@tylerc904, @Verandi, @Sail On, @Ana Raquel
Lowest Score: 2 x 2 @Andsov, @MrJames

@Verandi - 10 Y'all can stay mad at this one! It's the catchiest song on the album and the most obvious single they could have picked after the first two. It also does everything that Golden was supposed to do a thousand times better.

@Hudweiser - 9 If memory serves, this song appeared some months before anything else. It would've been a great bridging single between campaigns, as it's uplifting and happy and probably would've given her a nice tide-over hit. As it is, it doesn't sit so well with the rest of Aphrodite.
@CasperFan - 8 Love the song, but should not have been a single.

@M24 - 7 I like parts of it, but overall it doesn't scream single material to me.
@mrdonut - 7 I don’t actually think this is terrible and the Dolly Parton litmus test shines through. It just doesn’t belong on this album.
@nanafan - 6 I don’t dislike it but it’s definitely one of her weaker singles. Great X Factor performance though.

@hawkings24 - 6 I just don't care for this song to be honest.
@Untouchable Ace - 3.5 Just, no.

@Andsov - 2 How this was considered good enough for a single release is still beyond me. I like this song less and less with every listen.
@MrJames - 2 Without a doubt the weakest track on the album. The only track that I’ve just never been able to connect with. It just really doesn’t suit the tone of the album. I’d probably like it more if it wasn’t on this album.

.

Ah... so close to being the first "Aphrodite" elimination. It's definitely the most jarringly different and my least favourite song from that album. No wonder it's quite divisive, but I gave it a lukewarm 6,5.
Obviously, one of the worst single choices in her career, too.

I'm sure a few have been calling for this next one to leave...

Secrets 6.89

Highest Score: 10 x 4 @WhatKindOfKylie?, @Sprockrooster, @abael, @Remorque
Lowest Score: 2 x 1 @SlowGinFizzzz

@MrJames - 8.5 Would have made a great single!
@mrdonut - 8 The introduction of the guitar solo bothers me but this is a wonderfully disposable slice of pop.
@nanafan - 7 I always thought this was weaker than the other SAW tracks on Rhythm Of Love. Kylie shows how much better she was when you listen to the awful Sophie Lawrence version.
@CasperFan - 6 Weakest song on the album, just an ok song and a bit of a backwards step. Probably sounds weaker due to the incredible trio of songs before it.
@M24 - 6 It's cute, that middle-8 specifically. The melody in the chorus is not enough for me to give it more than a 6.
@Maki - 6 I don't have much to say about this one. Just an okay filler track that brings nothing new to the album. Actually, I like the little guitar breakdown after the second chorus.

Looking For An Angel - 8.5 For some reason, this sounds like a sonic continuation of the 2005 singles. Well, most of Aphrodite feels like that when I think about it.

Better Than Today - 7 I’ve never been a fan of this one. Not that I don’t mind some retro sounding pop, but I feel like I’ve heard too many variations of it.

It's been a minute since one of these...

Only You (With James Corden) 6.9

Highest Score: 10 x 3 @Adora Day, @WhatKindOfKylie?, @Hudweiser
Lowest Score: 0 x 1 @One Stop Candy Shop

@Hudweiser 10 - No matter how annoying Corden can be, his vocals here are just fine and the arrangement is flawlessly beautiful.
@nanafan - 9.5 Who knew James Corden had this voice. Why wasn’t this on the Waitrose advert that year so it could have got the exposure it deserved. A great cover.

@Epic Chocolat - 9 Oh! It's hard to ruin this song for me. Lovely.
@Sprockrooster - 8 Damn cheesy. I hate that I actually love this and I still took down points because of Corden.
@Holly Something - 7.5 I have a soft spot for this and I also don't hate James Corden so...

@M24 - 2 I'm gonna be harsh to this one because I really enjoy Yazoo's version, and James was not the proper vocalist for this. I don't like what they did in that middle 8 either. Also, what does this have to do with Christmas? It's such an odd inclusion.
