Me about these 'Golden' eliminations.

nn same I truly care about none of them.

Good that "I Don't Need Anyone" left before the top 100, because it surely didn't deserve to outlast "Through the Years". I really like the use of woodwind instruments, as well as the strings, but the melody leaves me cold and the song breaks the album vibe, especially being in the latter half which is more moody.
I gave it a 7 - would've been a great B-side because it generally doesn't belong to the album.

Literally the same.
And I'm just now noticing that the album version of "A Lifetime to Repair" (which I've rated) is different to the single version. Not a huge difference at all, but I don't really care about the song either way.

"Too Much" is still around? I thought we would lose it already.

I Don't Need Anyone - 9 I love how emo the opening guitar chords sound, even if the song then follows a very different direction. It’s the kind of jangle pop I’m usually not fond of, unless it’s by The Cardigans, Kero Kero Bonito or some Jrock bands, but Kylie just nails that style. The prominent strings definitely make it stand out.

A Lifetime To Repair - 5 Meh... It gets into pastiche territory once the beat and that chant come in. I wish it had remained acoustic throughout, instead of giving me bad flashbacks to Mumford & Sons’ airplay domination.

Quite a big one now...

Word Is Out 7.22

Highest Score: 10 x 5 @WhatKindOfKylie?, @CasperFan, @abael, @SophiaSophia, @Remorque
Lowest Score: 1.5 x 1 @mrdonut

@CasperFan - 10 I loved this straight away on hearing it and don’t get why it has such a bad reputation. Probably cos of it’s flop status and coming off the back of the golden 4. Love the new jack swing sound and really wish this had more love from fans and Kylie.
@nanafan - 9 I like Word Is Out but it wasn’t an obvious lead single. The video didn’t help it as Kylie as a hooker was the step too far. I think this is underrated. Love the Summer Breeze version too.

@Ugly Beauty - 9 I can't help but bop to this, I'm a sucker for the new swing jack vibe.
@Andsov - 8.5 It sure isn't her best lead single, but it's a great song nevertheless.
@Maki - 8.5 A change in style is apparent right from the start of this album. The verses are lovely and the best part of the song. I love how it still remains in the dancey region, but still incorporates new jack swing elements. I don't get why this song got so much hate in the previous rate. It's a great album opener and single choice, too.

@MrJames - 8 Whenever I listen to this I always wonder why it has such a dodgy position in Kylie’s discography. It’s a funky, fun song to my ears.
@Hudweiser - 7 I detested this for ages, maybe because it broke her string of Top 10 hits, but have come to like it a lot lately.

@M24 - 7 I don't know why I'm not the biggest fan of this lead single. One of her worst? That chorus just doesn't do enough. It's still pretty good anyway, love that jazzy breakdown.
@mrdonut - 1.5 Desperately seeking a decent chorus and a general reason for being, this is a turd of a choice for lead single, quite frankly, and I’m glad she doesn’t ever bother reviving it on tour.

Finer Feelings being the most popular track from Let's Get To It is hardly a surprise, but I wouldn't have expected all the others to go before we reached the top 100. While there aren't any other major standouts on there, track for track I'd say I prefer it to X or Aphrodite.

I've never seen the Impossible Princess comments (although I did go to her Shepherds Bush Empire concerts in support of it, where both she and the fans seemed to embrace the material pretty wholeheartedly) but even while promoting X she was venting her frustration at the amount of interference from the record label and the internal battles over what should or should not be included.

It's a Kylie album by committee. It does a bit of everything and does it all adequately, without excelling at any of it or (God forbid) taking any risks.

What?!
I didn't expect "Word Is Out" to do particularly well, but not even reaching top 100 is a shock. It's a bit baffling that it isn't liked among her fanbase. I love the song and think it's a perfect bridge between her dance-pop and new jack swing sound. Yeah, it's not perfect, but totally deserved to outlast plenty of songs.
In midnight, I could've given it a 9, which most likely wouldn't help anything.

Obviously, "Finer Feelings" is deservingly the final "Let's Get to It" song, and it should stay as long as possible.
