Did It Again 8.33

Highest Score: 11 x 1 @Untouchable Ace
10 x 19 @m_dimitrov, @SlowGinFizzzz, @nanafan, @Fuchsia, @aux, @mrdonut, @No hay banda, @hawkings24, @WoW73, @muddleddreams, @poshbabyyy, @tylerc904, @Ugly Beauty, @GimmeWork, @Hurricane Drunk, @abael, @Robert, @SophiaSophia, @Remorque
Lowest Score: 1 x 1 @Daniel_O

@nanafan - 10 What a track. Kylie shows she can mock herself and make a hit out of it. Possibly her finest video and the TOTP performance was amazing. This should have been a Top 10 single. I wish she would perform it again now as I've only ever seen it performed at on the Intimate & Live Tour.
@mrdonut - 10 The meta video beautifully demonstrated Kylie’s sense of humour to her audience (and critics), it deserved to put many of her peers in the shade back in the 90s and still works a treat now. I love the song too of course which boasts some impressively incisive lyrics.

@Ugly Beauty - 10 Yessss Kylie give me that Super Mario desert level vibe!!!
@CasperFan - 9 A gem of a song, amazing video-should’ve been a top 10 smash.
@Verandi - 9 She's talking about slaying the chart. Oh wait.

@Ana Raquel - 8.5 I think I could dig this a bit more with a more powerful chorus? still bop.
@M24 - 8.5 It's good but not as catchy as the rest of her singles discography, I guess? I love the MV tho.
@Andsov - 7.5 I want to love Did It Again. The lyrics are great and the video is legendary. And the song is good, but it never completely clicked with me. Very annoying.
@Hudweiser - 6 I rarely seek this out; it sounds so flat, but the video was so good it makes up for a lot of it.

@Epic Chocolat - 6 I like the chorus.

Damn. Another 10 in a row. I first heard Did It Again on Ultimate Kylie and was a big discovery for me. It was the only new to me song that I used to go back to often. I feel like that’s the track from Impossible Princess that fits with her other material the best so it’s a shame she doesn’t perform it much anymore.

"Things Can Only Get Better" went surprisingly far and did brilliantly, especially considering it's an album track. I thought it would leave around the #100 spot or something, so this really surpassed all of my expectations. I do really like the song, and definitely consider it one of her better PWL years non-singles, but still gave it a 7.5, just because it doesn't really grab me as much as it could.
Also, "Hand on Your Heart" should've went before it.

As bad as it sounds, I was really hoping that "Did It Again" will flop in this rate, and it kind of did.
Not because it's terrible, of course, but just because I find it extremely overrated, as it's my least favourite song from "Impossible Princess". Maybe it's so praised due to its amazing music video, but I really don't hear anything amazing about the song. There's something irritating about her delivery (she low-key sounds like Walmart yodeling kid at parts) and melody (too wonky for me), and the entire production and sonic aspect breaks the mood of the album, in a similar way that "Some Kind of Bliss" and "I Don't Need Anyone" do. The chorus is a major non-event, tio. Still, it a relatively cute and tolerable song.

"Did It Again" was my joint lowest remaining score with a (generous) 6.5 and I'm glad it didn't surpass more vastly superior songs.

Yeah I find Did It Again a bit overrated too, I definitely think the music video has elevated people's love for it, it has done for me TBH. I actually think out of the 3 Impossible Princess singles it's my least favourite.

More or less everything left is a great Kylie track deserving of a Top 50 place. But almost a third isn’t as important, joyous or significant to a career trajectory as Did It Again

In many ways it’s Kylie’s take on Garbage’s Stupid Girl. But lyrically and as illustrated in the music video, it’s possibly THE Kylie song that she had to create to bridge what came before with what was to come. The postmodern wink-wink knowing arguably allowed Light Years onwards to be possible

Totally agree with you! It's by far my least favourite (and the only dud) on Impossible Princess for me. It just doesn't fit Kylie and feels extremely awkward
