All I See is my least favourite from X so not sad to see that go. I was quite surprised it was a single. So many other great tracks on there that could’ve gone in its place.

The Loco-motion is a Kylie classic for me. It’s just a fun sing-a-long song. What’s not to like?

I will never understand why this was chosen as the US lead single from X.
I'd say it was a convergence between lack of imagination ("America likes R&B! Let's throw in a guest rapper too!") and - let's be frank - lack of viable alternatives.

What little push the album got in the US came after it had already run its course in her primary markets. I've seen people claim that the success of Jordin Sparks' markedly similar One Step At A Time killed off its chances, but the truth is it wouldn't have done anything anyway.

Finally... "The Loco-Motion" is out. I think I was overly generous to it, considering some obviously better songs only received slightly higher scores from me. Definitely the weakest song from her debut and should've left a long time ago. I'm very surprised the way it resisted to leave.

And scream at this being one of the PWL songs that @Verandi likes... I thought it encapsulates everything he hates about that era.

I'm surprised too ddd. I guess that's because she's not screaming for once, the melody is decent and the song was vintage, not dated. The rest of the album can choke tho.

Arrrrgh I bloody love this next one...

It's No Secret 6.55

Highest Score: 10 x 7 @P'NutButter, @WhatKindOfKylie?, @SinceYouTookYourPopAway,
@DJHazey, @unnameable, @Remorque, @Gnuh Gnuh
Lowest Score: 0 x 1 @SlowGinFizzzz

@nanafan - 9 So should have been single 5 as planned, this is a sign of things to come on the first album as it’s classy pop. Clearly Kylie and was a moment on the Anti Tour. Hope it gets live in a future tour too.
@M24 - 8.5 Another great song in this debut album! Probably one of my favorites.

@CasperFan - 8 A real highlight for me back in ’88 when I got the album-pity it was dropped as a single in the UK. One of the many joys of the Anti-tour.
@mrdonut - 7.5 Slightly painful at points but that middle 8 really is a work of wonder.

@Maki - 7.5 Really nice chorus. While this song isn't something I'll come back to often, it's certainly good while it lasts. That little synth breakdown after the middle-8 is a great addition.
@Untouchable Ace - 5.5 It could easily just be boring words in q book.
@Verandi - 0.5 This is painful.

Not great, and helped very little by the fact that she shouts most of it. Only the already-eliminated I Miss You beats it to the wooden spoon on her debut for me.

Also "it's no secret, because you told everybody" made me cringe at the time, and I was seven.

A travesty that this is out already-and I underscored it!

It has the same production.
In context that's part of my issue with the song existing let alone being a single and a lead single in the market with it's direct competitor.
