The Winner Takes It All (With Dannii Minogue) 5.73

Boombox - 8. This is in my Top 30. I love the bass synth, the funky guitar and the moment the backing track drops out before coming back in.

The Winner Takes It All - 7. I dreaded this before I listened (see my avatar) but I was pleasantly surprised.
I'm not sure about the 'Steps' beat and the singing isn't perfect, there's obviously a lot to live up to, but this is at least listenable unlike some ABBA covers. It's a shame it wasn't eliminated tomorrow on Benny's birthday!

My favourite ABBA cover is A*Teens 'Gimme Gimme Gimme.'

Boombox (LA Riots Mix) 9
The best version of this song by a mile-such a good remix, love the stuttering vocals and has an irresistible groove. I'm really surprised this has left so early when so many dull b-sides are left in. I demand a recount!

The Winner Takes It All (With Dannii Minogue) 6.5
Not the duet we were hoping for (thankfully that eventually came) Not a bad version but the original by ABBA is pretty much untouchable.

I don't understand why I want a Kylie × Dannii collaboration so bad when every collaboration that they've released so far has been trash.

I'm not an ABBA fan, so I was never going to rate an ABBA cover highly—I did give "Dancing Queen" a significantly higher score though.

Many of Kylies b-sides should've been on the album, but the last two eliminations; Diffcult by Design and I Am The One For You are dreadful songs and I'm happy to see them go.

Difficult By Design - 6.5. Some of the production is a bit off but I like the beat and the chorus, especially the piano which mirrors the melody.

I Am The One For You - 8. I'm Shocked (DNA 7" Mix) this has left so early. It's my favourite PWL B-Side.
The pre-chorus is so good and the chorus is singalong great. I prefer it to a few of the 'Rhythm Of love' tracks.

Hmm, I can't even recall rating the remix of "Boombox". Apparently, I gave it a 6, so it's possible I may have thought it's a bit annoying, given how repetitive the song gets at parts. Re-listening to it, that's pretty much the case. Also, I heard the original, unreleased version of the song, too, and think it works better that way, even though the remix gives it a bit more life.

I suck at rating covers, and her duet with Dannii on "The Winner Takes It All" is no exception. In the end, my score for it is a 9, because the song is amazing, but their version doesn't live up to it, obviously. Despite the high score, I don't consider this elimination a loss.

"Difficult By Design" is very good, I don't really get why it would be so disliked. While it is rather unremarkable, it grew on me over time. I keep forgetting the verses, but the chorus is memorable, as well as the post-chorus/middle-8. The 'oooh' bits are very nice, too. It was enough for me to give it a 7.5 and it's definitely among the better rarities/outtakes from the "Kylie Minogue" album. Should've been around for a bit longer, at least until top 50.
Now I think it won't be long before "Gotta Move On" leaves (which would also be quite unfair).
