So Sparks, Cherry Bomb and Tightrope are left? Wow, I certainly did not expect that. I scored them 9, 11 and 6 respectively.

Cherry Bomb is like Kylie doing Kpop (before Kpop was like this). I'm under no illusion that it would do well commercially. It sounds exactly like an album track in the vein of Speakerphone or Supernova. But these gems are often my favourite Kylie tracks. It's a little quirky, a little experimental, totally Kylie. When Kylie performed this on the Anti-tour and I was only a few feet from her I lost my mind.

Sparks is very similar in this respect. I'm not sure the instrument choice totally works - it's bizarre. But Kylie's falsetto is silky smooth and partnered with that beat it becomes almost euphoric. I love the lyrics, I love Kylie singing along with the instrumental - the 'la la la la la la la'. I probably should have scored this a 10 actually. Dammit.

Tightrope though. I know it's well loved around here but it's just so average to me. One of those songs I wouldn't go to, but also wouldn't skip if it came on. The middle eight when Kylie sings 'got to get to you' but the backing singers sing 'always leads to you'. Ugh that really annoys me.

is what I *think* the results will be...which I don't mind really since Tightrope is very good (I did give it a 10) but I'm hoping for an unexpected win (e.g Sparks which is *spoiler* my 11 or Cherry Bomb which got an 8.5 from me but it's bonkers I can't help but like it).

Well I gave Sparks and Tightrope 8 each and Cherry Bomb 6, which was pretty generous.

You know, I think Sparks edges it for me. It’s a great song marred a bit by the production. With different instrumentation it could have been such a banger. That chorus soars. The second verse is great too.

Tightrope is one of those that I just think is nice and not much more.

I just don’t get the love for Cherry Bomb. Chipmunk lyrics with dirgy electro production that I’m not really into and there’s just not enough melody for my taste. Not terrible by any means but certainly not a worthy winner.

I think Tightrope will win though

Made Of Glass - 11. I love the rumbling synths and guitar but the lyrics are the highlight. They talk about the nature of love, relationships and sex in an interesting, profound and poetic way. The phrase 'made of glass' is used throughout the song as an analogy for the fragility of language, human emotion and the Ego.

Cherry Bomb is a massive bop (like most of Bloodshy & Avant's productions, let's be real) and the best song from the X era. I completely understand why it's considered Kylie's best B-side by many. Sparks is a bit of a weird track with that xylophone production, but I absolutely adore it. Definitely a unique track, too.

Tightrope on other hand, while still being a great track (I think I actually gave all three finalists a 10), is just incredibly safe. It feels like Fever Kylie on autopilot. So since I already lost my experimental(-ish) "main favourites" Skirt, Take Me With You and Love Takes Over Me, I very much want Sparks or Cherry Bomb to win this rate over Tightrope.
