Gaga is one of my favourite popstars so no, I'm not picking on her. I only said that she wasn't that young (she was 27 and it was only five years ago) and that naive because other people have said that in the industry people have known about him for decades (if you go on JoJo's twitter she even said that her mama didn't let her work with him back in the day because in the business he was very well known for his behaviour and his stories were very frequent in studio sessions ). She choose to work with him for the sake of "controversy". I applaude her for deleting the song and speaking about the issue but I am not buying the narrative that goes on around the internet that she didn't know who she was working with. That's all.
Then stop. You made your point so stop defending it.

Legend is hustling to keep her version on streaming. Which it still is. Do we think there was misinfo previously and Kelly doesn't actually have a credit on the solo/Xtina version?

I was thinking there's a chance they just copy and pasted the credits over from the original when they were chucking it out on iTunes. Because as the song existed already before he jumped on it, presumably his only real contribution were the lyrics to his verse.

I love Christina tweeting that out.
As a long time Gaga fan at this point, I remember when there was some tension between them. I was really happy that they got to perform together and to see that performance still means something to Christina even years later now I think is really sweet.

In regards to the "She wasn't young though, that's not an excuse" sort of mindset that i've seen some people on here mention & on my personal social media feeds... She's not using being younger than she is now as an excuse, She mentioned being younger then as a way to show that time has passed, she's gone through therapy since that time. She's no longer in that twisted mindset. Of course she knew about the allegations against R Kelly at the time. Yes, she did choose to ignore them because she wasn't in a good place and wanted to buy into some celebrity controversy because at the time, her thinking wasn't right. She was dealing with a lot of her own trauma (Or, perhaps not dealing with it enough) and she made the choice to work with him out of the dark ideas she was having.
Context of what was going on with her at the time ARTPOP was made, Plus the context she gives in the apology explains all of this, I don't know why some people are so hung up on her saying "young". She was, indeed, younger 6 years ago than she is today. But she isn't saying her age is the reason it happened.

We don't owe celebrities and pop stars forgiveness just because the bar is set so low for their willingness to apologize for their behavior. People have every right to question her sincerity, especally knowing she turned down multiple opportunities to address this before, including relatively recent ones.

Many of our faves probably on some level knowingly worked with this predator because in that moment they valued money, celebrity and their own ~creative visions~ more than the women he was harming. We should just reckon with that and what it means for us as listeners and "fans" instead of jumping on people who aren't as willing to eat up whatever apologies they throw our way so we can go back to feeling good about consuming their music.

Great. What would you suggest doing? You're either going to believe in her sincerity or not, but the way people are talking doesn't really give her an option to attempt to address her mistakes. She's done pretty much everything she can do. What would make her "sincere" for some of you? Or has that ship sailed?

People will reach for any justification they can in continuing their dislike for an artist.
Just like people will reach for any justification they can to continue liking an artist.

But I like the idea of her apologizing now after this documentary, to lift up the voices of the victims, and now that she has had the time to work out more of her own trauma more and isn't in that dark place anymore.
It would've been kind of weird for her a couple years ago to be like "Oh, I have been going to therapy, I'd like to apologize for this" - to me. Instead she has spent time speaking out on sexual assault and writing Til It Happens To You and all that, and now is comfortable to talk more about the twisted decision she made to work with him - because it is adding to a current conversation with this documentary coming out.

That made probably more sense in my head than it did writing it out.

So your suggestion is accept her apology, just feel bad about it?

I don’t know why people are harping on about her use of “young” and “younger” when she flat out states she set out to create something controversial and that her judgement was poor and clouded at the time. Translation: she knew about the allegations, didn’t believe them at the time for one reason or another, and is owning up to her mistake. I’m not really sure what people want, and it’s obvious they don’t either since they’re breaking their necks trying to look at this note from unnecessary angles.
