I mean, would you have preferred me to say "OH YES KWEEN BRITNEY IS SLAYING THE INDUSTRY AND TAKING NAMES"? You asked, I answered; no, she hasn't been affecting the industry.

That's what any Britney fan would have anyone say. You should know the rules by now, Syz.

As far as I see it, she really has very little to stand on with her green hair and mechanical horse accusations. Oh Gags, slightly disappointed.

That neon seashell bra however...

I can't stand Katy beyond the level of enjoying some of her songs, the look on her face before she sticks her fingers in her throat in that interlude video makes me want to punch her in the nose, BUT I think Gaga should know better not just from a 'being the bigger person' point of view but because she is opening a can of worms so big she'll probably still be choking on worm carcasses in December. I don't for a minute believe anyone can or should be a saintly bastion of love and forgiveness 24/7 but whether she's right or wrong she's shooting herself in the foot. Plus it means the saner of either fanbases have to endure everyone 'weave snatching' like the fucking wig shop is on fire. It's so exhausting.

Tour book looks nice though.

Do y'all think that artPop: Act II will be taking visual cues from the artRave visuals? I'm really digging the candy raver look that she's sporting at the moment.

Basically she believes Katy's brand of pop is part of what's wrong with the industry. It's all v hipster-y. ADFH also explained it on the previous page.

So her Artpop could mean anything, but Katy's is wrong. #rollseyes

I sure hope so! I'd love for the photos Ruth Hogben shot to be the cover. Specifically the shot of her on the giant Koons ball featured in the tour book.

Gaga is so shady when she's with her fans and honestly genuinely funny. It isn't even coming from a place of malice (at least in my experience). She'd be much better off if she stopped trying to be spreading love and compassion 24/7. That's why people are put off when she says things like she did yesterday. Which isn't to say she's some sort of evil person, but she's human and she does have more to say about things than she allows herself to put out there.

Katy doesn't have art or pop though. It's just committee approved, lowest denominator crap aimed at the non discriminating masses that even she seems embarrassed by. Or she actually enjoys poop jokes which is even sadder.

She makes fun pop music and visuals, just because Gaga shoe-horns random art references into things doesn't make them any less lowbrow. I mean green hair and sea shell bikinis are tacky no matter if you have some bullshit about Venus or not.

It's not about art references, it's about standing or falling on the merits of your vision of your own work and vision and not dumbing your own stuff to the point of it being barely accessible to anyone over the age of 12 so you can sell more. It's about having a point of view other than the almighty dollar. Unless a 30 year old singer songwriter actually stands behind stuff like Roar and Birthday which is even sadder as I said.

I would agree with that actually. She's made a rod for her own back.

Sad... As if we didn't have enough people glamorizing eat disorders already. Bottom line, it's not "cool" or "artsy" at all.
Okay, Demi.

Of course the paint being green at all allows the monsters to screen shot things and skew the evidence* but it's such a fleeting moment within the context of a theme that's been done to death anyway - 1 / 2 / 3 / 4.
Done to death indeed! I actually like Katy's interlude though, it's just a very well-worn concept at this point.

Yeah. I l think spreading the principles of love and online kindness during Born This Way was admirable but for ARTPOP, when she put a ban on 'Slaying your faves', it made it seem like she was only doing it out of insecurity regarding her own lack of 'slayage'. She would have been better off telling her fans to stop wishing cancer on people, that would have made a stronger, more pertinent statement.

BUT KERL!

I really do think it's naive to think that Katy is ripping off Gaga just because there are a couple of mild similarities between a few creative ideas, and also a bit rich, given that the 'affected' fanbase is one who has gone through hell and back trying to defend their fave whilst Madonna stans from all corners of the internet have been dragging together comparative photos, costumes, ideas etc between the two ladies for years, much to the chagrin of Little Monsters worldwide. Hell, if I set my mind to it, I could probably try and create a convincing case that Emma Watson is ripping off Queen Latifah at every corner - it's the nature of everything being everlasting on the internet.

I mean, really. This isn't 2009 anymore - Gaga is not the fresh, titanic, influential character that she once was. Just stop and think. Do you seriously think Katy saw Gaga don a seashell bra, and immediately ran to the designers of her tour, saying 'Well gosh, Moschino! That Lady Gaga's got everyone around the globe absolutely BUZZING about the fact she's put seashells on her tits - let's TOTALLY copy that, but make them leaves instead!!!!' No. And re: the tour interlude (which may have been filmed weeks, if not months ago) do you really think Katy thought people would respond a) warmly, and b) at all to a 'supposed' rip-off of Gaga's paint vomiting that, crucially, is actually really nothing like it at all? As has been pointed out, popstars and paint are not a new concept by any means.

Am I trying to claim that Katy is a visionary, creatively innovative artist? Far from it. And am I trying to deny that Gaga has probably influenced some of Katy's creative decisions in the past (hello, cheese cube hat)? No. All I'm saying is that when you think really sensibly about it, it's very doubtful that Katy's especially interested in any of Gaga's creative decisions any more, let alone ripping them off.

This is not an attack on Gaga, and not a particular defence of Katy. It's just a dose of common sense for hysterical fans who have probably composed videos claiming that Katy also copies the way Gaga blinks at 0:52 in the 'Judas' video. What's the point?

90 percent of people buying Katy are Women and 'Da Gays', neither of which give a fuck about Katy's Pop Tits.

Gaga fucked up ARTPOP because 'Applause' was pretentious as fuck, 'ARTPOP' is a basic pop album and she fucked off for 6 months AFTER just releasing the album, nothing to do with Gaga 'packin away the tits'.

You probably have done some amazing market research. Must be the reason why straights sing along with Kety Purr and not to Gaga songs.

I mean, would you have preferred me to say "OH YES KWEEN BRITNEY IS SLAYING THE INDUSTRY AND TAKING NAMES"? You asked, I answered; no, she hasn't been affecting the industry.

What I meant is that is beside the point. 11 years ago, when Britney Spears was affecting the industry according to you, she was just as manufactured as she is now. In fact, she's the trailblazer of a generation of singers being puppets to super producers creating soulless pop music. Or do we forget one of Katy's masterminds is the responsible for some of Britney's biggest singles?

Yet Katy is everything that's wrong with Music (even though she actually writes it) while Britney Spears is a flawless legend in her eyes. If anything Britney Spears offends the industry on a much higher level.

It looks more like Gaga is a little pressed that someone like Katy gets to be more successful, which I don't blame her, I'd be mad too. But to disguise her dislike for Katy as something linked "to the industry" when she loves Britney Spears, just sounds hypocritical.
