Lady Gaga - Born This Way (Album)

She / Her
I agree with Hair being pedestrian. The chances of Bloody Mary being a single are about zero as far as I'm concerned but I think there are a lot of plausible singles from this. The fact that I can't imagine hearing any of this on the radio (save Marry The Night) makes me excited for when I will.

Scheisse is my favorite on the album (along with Bloody Mary and Heavy Metal Lover), but it would make such a terrible single. It's going to be Judas all over again.

You know sometimes when you love a song so much you feel worried that if it becomes a single it will flop? Well that is how I feel about Scheisse, I don't know if I'd want it released because I just don't know how well it would do and I wouldn't want it to do badly. The not exactly amazing performance of Judas was heartbreaking enough.

I think after a few weeks reflection on the album I've decided that it isn't exactly amazing but it is still good. Bloody Mary is just amazing. I remember when these boards went crazy over it when it leaked but I failed to see the fuss. I now do though and it is just too brilliant, definitely not single material though. Heavy Metal Lover is probably the albums highlight for me. I can't even bare to listen to You and I and Americano. The latter being more painful than the former. Also is it just me or is Born This Way (the single) a little more listenable when it's wedged between other songs?

If we all love Scheisse, Bloody Mary and Heavy Metal Lover, why do we think they won't work as singles?

These tracks have also been highlighted in reviews, topped popularity polls and gone down well with non-gaga fans (based on numerous comments on what peoples acquaintances have liked on here).

All these signs point to the songs doing very well surely?

It's these zany tracks she should be releasing. They'll do brilliantly. Better than what's been released so far, in my opinion.

Now let's all start a twitter trend: #KLEIN4SCHEISSE

Not really. Most people here hate Jessie J, her album had lukewarm reception and, well, look at her success.

ANYWAY, she said something like "I won't pick obvious singles" so maybe those songs will be released.

Oh you.

No I understand what Sarah K is saying, there is sometimes a disconnect between what Popjustice Users want and what the General Public wants... Or say what Gaga's more-dedicated fans want over what the General Public wants.

Scheisse isn't very radio-friendly, but I think it has so much potential that with the right push it could be a smash hit and gain her a lot of positive critical attention for taking a risk.

Hair is probably the safest choice though... *Bleh*

Haha. If he's going to direct anything on the album though, that's the most obvious choice, right? Unless she goes for the whole juxtaposition again. But I am most certainly getting my hopes up.

PS- Did the essay I just wrote in General Lady Gaga discussion get deleted or moved? Because I didn't just spend 10 minutes writing it for nothing. I could have edited it and put it on Tumblr if healthy debate isn't appreciated here.

Of course I would love Scheisse, Heavy Metal Lover or Bloody Mary to be singles, but what I am saying is that just because they are popular with devotees, doesn't mean they are going to smash the charts.

People aren't stupid and they'll know what Scheisse means in English. Judas didn't exactly blow up on American Radio, most likely due to the lyrical content. Sometimes I think people forget just how conservative America can be. I just can't see American radio stations playing a song like scheisse because of the title.

Not that I give that much of a crap about chart positions anymore but they are still important to a certain degree and it generally just leaves a bitter taste in the mouth when a song you love doesn't do well in the charts.

Hopefully I'm wrong though and it would be great if scheisse was the 4th single and the world loved it. In my opinion this whole Born This Way campaign has been lacklustre despite some of the brilliant material on the album. I just wish the world had taken to Judas a bit more!

They can just change the title to "Be Mine" or something, and censor the shits/bullshits.
Just like:

S&M > Come On
Sexy Bitch > Sexy Chick
Tonight (I'm Fucking You) > Tonight (I'm Loving You)

And so on...

I get what you're saying but I feel like it would take away so much from the song. With Sexy Bitch for example, changing the name really didn't affect the song at all. With Scheisse though, the whole song nearly would be censored because she says it so much.

All this Judas praise tonight makes me super happy.

Underrated, underappreciated, undermined by The Edge. Overlooked gem. Tear.

I was initially put off when people on here were commenting on how Steps-like the chorus was, but in the long run it's made me love the song even more.

I totally understand your points Sarah K.

I'd like her to take as much risks as possible. The most boring choices would be Hair, You & I and Americano. I like the songs, but I would hate to see that singles run. let's not even go there with The Queen

What?

I'm more of a Tumblr user, I don't really use last.fm, but like I've said before, I do NOT have a sophisticated ear, so please don't judge me on my music tastes! Haha... You'll see what I mean when you check the page...

No, no, look. I'm talking about censoring the english "shits" not the "Scheißes". Would they be that stuck up? Really?

Americano would be good for the visual, video side, hello Paparazzi, Telephone, Americano Triliogy.
Marry The Night I think wouldn't be very instant for people, same as Government Hooker. Bad Kids would be a good shot, it could have an interesting video. Sheiße could be risky though with the whole will they/won't they censor it.
