Lady Gaga - Dawn of Chromatica

We know they will mess up the second single like always.

We should take bets as to how they're going to fuck it up this time.

Poker Face - #1
Telephone - #3
Judas - #10
Do What U Want - #13
Million Reasons - #4

Only Judas was arguably a misfire. Do What U Want managed to do really well despite no video and poor choice in collaborator. Million Reasons.... I mean, I think its success is overstated (it spent 2 week in the top 20 and barely cracked the top 20 on radio) but it was a hit, so really.. I wouldn't say her 2nd singles are historically screw ups. They've usually worked out pretty well for her.

I didn't mean that the single choices were bad, just that there is often a problem ddd.

Judas -> Quickly switched to The Edge Of Glory (although they were both singles so that's not fair)

Venus -> Canceled for Do What U Want
A-Yo -> Canceled for Million Reasons
I'll Never Love Again -> Dropped for Shallow (???)

The Venus/Do What U Want situation was maybe sort of an odd knee jerk reaction moment, but the others all were genuinely smart decisions. Judas was going nowhere and Glory had a much better immediate reaction. Same with A-Yo and Million Reasons. You go with the people. The public essentially picked those as singles and I think they were smart to see it and follow suit.

Minor scheduling bumps aside, Joanne went shockingly smooth for a Gaga era (thanks to Cheek to Cheek being sort of a test run), and I imagine they’ll improve on what they didn’t manage to accomplish last time around. I’m even more excited after how well the film and soundtrack have been marketed and received. She’s in a great position.

Her team isn't dumb. ASIB had a huge impact on her streaming numbers and she is finally at a good place meaning if they push a new song soon it will be exposed to a bigger audience that is streaming the soundtrack right now. Also knowing how she get's tired of performing the same material over and over i feel like if it was up to her the album would be out on the first date of Enigma or Q2 at it's latest. Fuck the Grammys.

So between Enigma she has essentially 2 big breaks:
1st. February, March, April and May
2nd. Mid-June, July, August and September to mid-October
It makes sense to drop something right after the Oscars or wait for August and announce it with the 2020 dates of the residency.
My date is Feb 24th so either way i will have to settle for the hits. Sobs.

I don’t think she’s done all that much yet, honestly. She started recording last October, which lasted a few weeks and then she stopped until about April/May of this year, then she stopped again at the end of May so she could wrap the soundtrack and she only recently got back into the studio last week.

Then again, on the flip side, she officially started what would make up the bulk of Joanne in January 2016 and played a version of the album to the label that April, but she still ended up tweaking it for six more months after that.
