Lady Gaga - Harlequin

Well I personally enjoy her vocals much more when she tones it down in terms of her vibrato and when she's hitting more pure notes. Cuz sometimes she tends to overuse the vibrato a bit and it's a pity to me because she's so good when she uses this kind of technique as she did on the Jimmy Kimmel performance. Wonder how she sounds on LG7 but she hinted that in terms of her singing technique it's pretty much unlike any other albums she's made. Just wait till she gags us all with her own take on growling.

Very impressed by the Kimmel performance, one thing she's made clear over the past decade is that she will sell a ballad. I don't at all mind tuning on the mic, but do think it was probably turned up more than she would've liked.

She was extremely vibrant (and very jittery) in the interview, the openness discussing Michael feels surreal. I think we're in for a very special year of Lady Gaga, let's just hope the energy and influences on the pop album peak through a bit more.

Oof fantastic performance, oh my word. Definitely a teeny tiny bit of tuning going on, but still, that was an incredible vocal.

That's definitely the best and cleanest vocal we've had from her head voice in that first chorus. Absolutely stunning.

And Happy Mistake is a fucking excellent song.

She sounds so electric talking. The bit about loving a porch after metaforically setting hers on fire on the tour dd

This is going to sound more parasocial than I intend it to, but it's refreshing to hear Gaga laughing and making jokes in interviews again - her enthusiasm is infectious and she seems to be in such a great place. It just makes me more impatient for the impending LG7 lead; I need to hear how this energy translated there.

Performance is really good too - she obviously doesn't need it, but I love a live-corrected mic moment.

The Happy Mistake performance was fantastic and her best vocal in ages. It really highlights both what she does really well and what's kind of been lacking in a lot of her more recent outings, including on record in some cases. The big vocal moments where she's really wailing, belting and growling are so much more impactful when she starts from a softer place and lets the vocal performance build. The vocals on Chromatica while of course technically sound and proficient across the board kind of lose that dynamic quality that she's so capable of bringing when she's just got her voice at 10 for the majority of the song. Happy Mistake was just...a sublime example of the full dynamic range of her voice and if that's the approach she's bringing into LG7 then all the better.

That performance has really endeared me to Happy Mistake. I think I have PTSD after Take My Hand and Die with a Smile, so I wasn't that eager to listen to it more than once, but it's one of her good ballads!
