It's not, I've done this with Spotify and it picks and chooses which local files to play and greys out/skips most of them. Really annoying!

I figured out a hack to use Local Files on Spotify when I want a certain song added by air-dropping to my phone files and then copying it to Spotify. Gotta love a iCloud subscription so space is no issue.

If you use Apple Music, it's pretty easy. Spotify though... I hated trying to add my local files and quickly canceled my subscription. Plus, the sound quality difference between Apple Music and Spotify was steep.

Yeah, I was a Spotify truther for years, but they absolutely ruined the local files process, so it was the reason I moved to Apple Music. It works great there.
