Even as someone who thinks Die With a Smile is fine (glowing praise I know), it surpassing Born This Way is so dark-sided. A sign of the times I suppose.

Having an unpopular opinion on here is not very fun, but Die With A Smile must be my favorite Gaga single since like... wow. The Cure? The Edge of Glory? Judas? Not that I disliked everything else, but I absolutely love this song, girls. 10/10 track. I don't expect much else like it on Mayhem, but I'm happy it isn't orphaned.
Honestly... I appreciate that Die With A Smile accomplished its mission of being the ultimate smash hit while also terrorizing the gays. It would have been comically tragic to have something so labored and engineered just to flop massively. It does have its own merits as a song as well.
Furthermore, it would be extra special if it was THE crutch that allowed her to just keep elge-MAYHEM moving and pumping out content without the urge of "this needs to save the campaign, or we're pulling the plug", but it's 2025, and we already know what's going to happen once we hit March 7th so.
Let's enjoy these upcoming 4 weeks. #AbracadabraIsComing.

“Die with a Smile” is cute, and I enjoy the “Hopelessly Devoted to You” vibes of it (don’t ask me to explain). Such strong reactions to it in either direction seem strange to me though.
“Happy Mistake” is a genuine 10 ballad and deserves all that success.

Definitely a grower. I posted here on release day, saying it was very lovely but I doubt I'd ever need to listen to it again.
