Lady Gaga - Mayhem

I need y’all to stop with, “The scream is a direct call back to when she screamed.” takes.
I need you to tell us how it feels to be so categorically WRONG:
I played those clips like once and it's just distorted shitty phone-recorded nonsense battling the lisps who won't shut up, but I just know some of you have played them like forty times and will have your opinion of the final product tarnished by them lmao.

I love how she credited Siouxsie And The Banshees when it's barely even an inspiration. It truly explains how the venture capitalist is getting credited left and right.
First of all, I'm obsessed, Abracadabra in an absolute banger!

Secondly, as a huge Siouxsie & the Banshees fan, what are they being credited for?

I don't think she'll nab a hit from this era apart from Die with a Grammy. Even when electropop was palatable on radio, she was still sorta kinda a tough sell dd.

But who cares. She's 15+ years into her career and has every accolade available. I'd imagine the goal here is to continue cementing her status as an icon and sell another successful stadium tour.

Any/All
I am still wrapping my mind around this cause I honestly didn’t think she still had it in her! This whole package has made me SO happy about new Gaga in a way I haven’t been since I heard Venus. The last ten years saw her doing sidequests and so much downright awful music that I was so close to signing her off. This is not just good, it’s fantastic! You can see it in her eyes that she means it!

The fact that the song starts with its post-chorus because it’s setting you up for something bigger (Bad Romance playbook!), and has this progression where every new element outdones what you previously heard, all the way to the GLORIOUS bridge that takes you back to the chorus so you can hear it one more time…. that’s how you build a progression and climax. And that is something that her abysmal previous record lacked in its endless screaming and undercooked flat beats! Girls we were RIGHT to expect more because she is apparently CAPABLE! What a victory this is for pop music. What a joy it is I’m feeling on this morning.
