This is such a rush. I’m a relatively new fan compared to this community, having only fully dived into her discography right before her rate in 2019, so I always wondered what it was like to experience her rise from The Fame onwards, especially for those of you whose formative years are tied to her music.

Chromatica was my first era and didn’t quite deliver like I hoped, Rain On Me MV and a couple songs (Replay, Babylon, 911) aside. That said, I had such a great time at the Chromatica Ball and always hoped the energy she’s shown back then would translate to her music again.

And it seems like this is it for real. This package is what I wanted in 2020. I’ll echo the comments pointing the Eurovision vibes of the chorus, and I don’t mean in a derogatory way. It’s just… one of those hooks that are instant and live in your head rent free afterwards nn. Hell, I’ve only heard it twice and there are already two other hooks that keep popping up as well. I don’t know what she put in this but it’s totally working.

The speech showing her support for trans people is the cherry on top. We need more of this energy.

Oh, turns out there's something called Mastercard Priceless that you need to sign up for to get presale tickets and other offers. I can't believe I've had a Mastercard for almost a decade and just found this out (Lady Gaga is still not showing up yet though ddd)

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Signed up straight way. Same as you, have had a (prepaid! dd) Mastercard for years and never knew about this.

There’s just something so… GAGA about “Abracadabra” compared to DWAS (which, to her credit, wasn’t actually part of the album’s vision at first) and “Disease” (Mama, that’s a Marilyn Manson song sung by Lady Gaga). All three are great songs but “Abracadabra” just feels the most authentically her out of the three.

This has really made me emotional. I've enjoyed a handful of her songs along the way in the past 11 years, but nothing on this level. I thought this GaGa was gone forever, but here she is.

The song is the Born This Way album + Eurovision in a blender, and the video is... her sleekest ever?

I've grinned and cried each play - let's hit play again.

Regarding your first paragraph, I saw Lady Gaga open for the Pussycat Dolls. To this day, I’ve never seen a support act get louder cheers than Gaga did, more so than PCD to be honest.

I’m not sure. I’m finding it jarring hearing the odd strands from RuPaul’s Covergirl and that RHOSLC choir/chant transitional sting.

I keep watching the video and getting like, super in my feelings. When she’s on, she’s fucking on. I hate to say this but this does kinda make me look back on previous eras that I stanned regardless (because duh) in a less favourable light, because what I’d accepted from her at the time was what I thought I wanted. Like, really - when have we seen this fire in her in the past 14 years? The less said about 2013 the better, Joanne was steeped in trauma and Chromatica… well, ditto. But then I loved each and every one despite everything? It’s very clear that I just love her. An unhealthy amount actually. But that’s why this all feels so fucking rewarding.

Sleeping on it, I suppose I'm just shocked she actually did it. Like @mindtrappa said, even when she said she was doing the old Gaga, it was watered down or not fully committed in a way that made it something different to me. Obviously, this is harder hitting than most of what she's put out in the last decade but when confronted with "this could have been the follow up single to Judas," part of me is like, wait do I want this? I'm not who I was in 2011 and why do I want her to be? Even Disease felt like something different.

It slaps, I'll run it into the ground, but I also really hope that the album has more to offer.

So besides serving cunt, I’m guessing there’s an actual story in the video? Is it a battling her inner demons kind of thing, which was also touched on in Disease?

I didn't even know this is what I wanted from this song, but of course it fucking was. She looks and sounds so absolutely connected to this, and it's such a rush.

That middle 8 is to die for, but the overall vocal performance is just phenomenal. Some other pop girls could sing this song (with varying degrees of electronic help), but they couldn't touch what Gaga is doing here. She'll always be able to get me back even when I feel slightly less connected to her. When she's on, she's fucking electric.

Oh, and I loved the California Dreaming performance too. She sounded fantastic, and it was nice to see her just complimenting Bruno, but letting him do the heavy lifting. She really was very understated next to him.
