Lady Gaga - Mayhem

she/her
As a continuation of my earlier post, it may be embarassing to admit but... I'm barely familiar with her videography. Or to rephrase better, I may have seen a couple videos dozens of time due to her ubiquitous presence back in the day, but it was through a different lens as I wasn't a fan and pop music wasn't a significant part of my listening habits yet. I don't think I've watched her older, pre-Chromatica ones on my own since and I want to fix that.

Where should I start? Over the years, I've often noticed your praise about some of them just like I've enjoyed reading your posts every time you guys mention the infamous Born This Way leak night on here or other memories, so I'm curious!

One random thought I had was that what makes me so joyful about this return to form but in upgraded version of Gaga is that we've been seeing lately so many pop girls that went to the Gaga school of performance, identity and music doing a good job at it, and it's just incredible to experience the blueprint in excellent form.

I hope the rest of the album gives me the same feeling.

I think LoveGame and Paparazzi are her best videos from The Fame.
Bad Romance, Telephone, Alejandro.
Born This Way, Judas, Marry the Night.
Applause. G.U.Y.
911.

I know someone is going to give me side eye for not including something or other. But these are the stand outs for me.

Pokerface, Paparazzi, LoveGame, Bad Romance, Telephone are worth checking.

I just love how muscular the whole thing sounds. Not one part sounds underproduced. In 2025 we’re getting a pop single with

- 3 choruses
- a pre-chorus
- a post-chorus
- an operatic bridge

And the fact that we have a 15-track album of similar runtimes… we’re in for a career best album I fear.

Honestly I think it's worth watching all of her videos. Even the simpler ones like Just Dance and Poker Face are a lot of fun, and it's cool seeing the evolution over the years/eras.
Except for "Million Reasons."

The chorus has this very 09/10 Europop feel. I guess people have hit the nail on the head with its comparison being Eurovision.

I never thought she’d make music like that and have it sound so… unapologetically her? Venus’s chorus might be the closest thing to the sound I’m thinking about.
