Lady Gaga

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP (Album, 2013)

As much as Stache is fucking appalling, about 5% of me would love to see her come out with an album full of weed anthems like that, and torpedo her own career. I love her, and wouldn't want her to not be around, but it'd be an entertaining few months.

With some spruced up production Nothin' On would be a really great song. And I'd much rather have a really good "old" song on her album than a terrible new one.

Christina Aguilera would relish in the damnation of Gaga for being around 3 times as long as her, until someone notifies her that they have the same number of albums.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP (Album, 2013)

The thing is: they could not and would not.
It is Gaga's album through and through. I can't even fathom how you could imagine it being released by anyone else.

Oh no, I definitely think it's Gaga's album. No one else could have recorded anything like it or come up with it. Quality-wise though? It's above average, that's all. She took far more risks than the average pop star and she failed in too many cases for Born This Way to be the pinnacle of her career. I don't expect it to really be looked back on that favorably once she churns out several more albums. Too much of it is messy, with great ideas but haphazard execution.

The story of her career, tbh. So many good initial ideas. No idea when enough is enough.

At one point, wasn't Gaga thinking about reclaiming Nothin' On as her's? It was recently registered on APRA.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP (Album, 2013)

While I actually think Born This Way is her best, I agree with Jonathan: she can have much better albums in the future. Born This Way reaches her highest, but it's also got some pretty terrible lows.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP (Album, 2013)

She still has nice hair.

She's actually sticking with it.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP (Album, 2013)

Born This Way doesn't have any real low for me, and pretty fucking high highs, so that's why I love it.
For now it's my favorite album ever, tied with Goldfrapp's Seventh Tree.

If she can somehow make me like her next album even more... well, I'd be one happy music listener.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP (Album, 2013)

The brown hair is the best she's ever looked so she should stick with it.

Her titties look huge. Has she lost the "weight"?

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP (Album, 2013)

I think Zedd's Hourglass is spectacular. That production mixed with Gaga's hooks and melodies could produce something quite brilliant, I'd say.

Yes. Some of his production is a bit too much Calvin Harris-meets-Daftpunk, but 'Hourglass' and 'Shave It Up' (and particularly the build-up between the two) are brilliant. His track with Ellie Goulding is rather good too.

Agreed. The production on Epos is also very nice but as a stand-alone instrumental it disappoints. But yeah mixed with Gaga... I think we're in for a huge treat! Oh and haters, don't even bring up Stache because that was a 100% Zedd track with some made-in-5-minutes-while-high tacked on Gaga vocals. ARTPOP will actually be them writing songs together and I predict big things.

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP (Album, 2013)

I hope she doesn't abandon her towering, tiered choruses in favour of the "intro hook --> wet fart instrumental breakdown" structure. Zedd's production seems to favour that approach, though.

Yes...

She would be a fool if she goes down that lazy route and doesn't use her greatest asset (great pop songwriting).

Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP (Album, 2013)

You're right... that wasn't a direct quote. Apologies.

You said: "Gaga is a good popstar. She is not a great one."

Do you not see the difference there?

"Eh, she's alright," and "Gaga is a good popstar," are not the same thing at all... Maybe I wasn't clear enough.

Sorry, not trying to make a "thing" here... it was more the "she is not a great one" that I was trying to paraphrase. And I respect your opinion on that, despite disagreeing.

And I like Sky, quite a bit. (wink-wink)
