Lady Gaga

I adore "Perfect Illusion," but I don't think "Bad Romance" will ever be beaten in her leads ranking.

Holy shit, she has a fantastic track record with those lead singles though. Nothing less than a 9/10 if we exclude the 6/10 that is "Stupid Love."
Bad Romance is second. The song is great but the video is what made it iconic for me, and that was released after. Perfect Illusion just hit the ground running.

I mean... not to start this again but... Perfect Illusion > Bad Romance > Born this Way = Applause > Just Dance > Stupid Love

Just Dance is great for what it is but if I'm revisiting The Fame, there are Poker Face and Paparazzi sitting right there doing it so much better.

Just Dance was such a perfect introduction of Lady Gaga to the world. It's really hard deciding her best lead singles, but I'd place Born This Way and Stupid Love as the bottom ones.

Perfect Illusion, Applause, and Bad Romance are her best leads. Just Dance is iconic and a bop and the single that started it all for her, but it's not even my favorite track on the debut - to use a tired point of comparison, it is her Everybody.

Crazy that Perfect Illusion has crept it’s way to the top when I wasn’t too sure about it initially - I guess I simply wasn’t ready!

Just Dance is so fucking great. The Apple Music algorithm is basically playing is everyday now and I’m like… can’t get enough. The iconic intro, the verses, the rush of that chorus, Colby o’Donis being Schrödinger Akon, THEN THE RAP VERSE NOT BEING THE ACTUAL BRIDGE WHICH IS ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT…. that song was something they MADE, something professional.

Perfect Illusion is great and keeps getting better with time but I also understand anyone who hates it and the vocal performance will always be… a choice. For good or bad. I’d love if she revisited it someday (maybe a live performance) and took the Kevin/Tame Impala approach of more “sedated” vocals.

Apart from Stupid Love, which felt like playing too safe, all her leads are very great statements and introductions. Even if Perfect Illusion is an outline on Joanne, it was a great “brace for impact” dddd.
