Lady Gaga

Her catalog has been getting amazing streams and solid weekly increases lately. It won't necessarily translate into the new era, but I do feel like there's some hype for her. Of course, it's not as big as it was pre-Stupid Love because she was coming off A Star Is Born, but she could easily get a solid hit if the material is strong enough.

The label is definitely pushing some Spotify buttons, which is a great sign.

The other day a random "PARTYNAUSEOUS" upload, that happened to be under "Mother Monster" moniker but featured "LADY GAGA" on the name of both song + single\album, came on shuffle and it was so... crazy. Algorithm gonna algorithm.

If something really happens soon (I mean... within the next 4 months I guess?? dd) it will really be the first time it all happens out of nowhere... which is great. It doesn't feel like there's a heavy weight of expectations.

I do applaud her for managing to keep everything under wraps, it must be a prettty big ask to stop people mentioning working with her. We always wondered if she would do a surprise drop and I guess it's upon us (although not 100% a surprise I guess). Also, I'm very excited to see what she comes up visually, all her eras have such a distinct visual identity (yes even Chromatica, shut up) and I am very much looking forward to see her in popstar mode again. Carrying Starbucks in a hoodie ISN'T CUTTING IT.

I mean, Chromatica was ahead of everyone else on the high saturation, alien / outer world aesthetic. Coldplay (ew) being the immediate thing to come to mind.

I love this one. It's making me emotional for some reason lol

Yeah, this was hacked a while ago along with the ARTPOP outtakes. When I was talking to her team last summer, we were trying to do something with Born This Way and the photoshoot, but this leak might kill that discussion for good so I'm a little bitter about this happening. But I guess fans get to see it all now.

The way both Nick Knight and Inez & Vinoodh could have put out amazing coffee table books of all their Gaga photoshoots... A missed opportunity.

The only reason they never did is because the images cost a shit ton to retouch (I asked nn), and the return they’d get just isn’t worth it unless the books were ridiculously overpriced, which makes even less sense financially because then they aren’t accessible to anyone to buy dd. A publisher would need to cover the costs and there would need to be some sort of guarantee that they would be able to move a certain amount of copies to make that back.

Get Nick Knight to shoot the next EP/album, package it with the release and fans would jump at it. I still am upset I didn't order that book she put out with The Fame(?).

This is quite funny because isn't it an easy sell with her fanbase? Everything gets "sold out" in the blink of an eye from Vinyl to jockstraps.... I remember the Terry x Gaga book not being very cheap back then, but then I also remember seeing it discounted a few times... but it was still expensive omg dd.

As annoying as it might be, since most of the time all we get is "we were going to BUT" so I'm glad we have the leak then.

Yeah, but Terry is Terry and he’s not really retouching his photos like Inez & Vinoodh or Nick Knight are, if at all. There’s far more work going into those images. A cheaper price point for the Terry book is more doable as a result. But paying a company $1,500 to edit a single image to fill 100+ pages… you’re probably looking at a $250-$300 base price.
