Ladytron - Time's Arrow

I'm not sure if it's the mood I'm in or what, but the whole thing just blurs together in a bleary, dreary mess. I know it sounds like I'm being dramatic, but I seriously almost fell asleep at my desk while listening to it.

I'll probably give it another shot in different surroundings, but it's been a while since I've been so disappointed by a new album from an old fave.

The last album by them I loved, and I mean REALLY loved was Velocifero, since then I haven’t been able to get into anything, as hard as I’ve tried . This sounds at least better than the last 2 but there’s something about the flat droning production that I just can’t seem to get into . Witching Hour is still utterly gorgeous though

They do have a particular sound/style/production that they don't really veer too far from which is both comforting and also a little samey and boring at times. I do think this album, having only listened once, has a lot of interesting melodies and I definitely had more more interest than I did in the last few records.

It's just the 2 ladies now, right?

Maybe I need more time with it but this album’s not really hitting at the moment. The singles are all great and I love the duology of The Night and The Dreamers, but the rest is just…there.

Feels mean to say but PVA kinda already gave me everything I could want from a Ladytron album in the 2020s anyway? That album is captivating even in its more subdued moments, whereas this one really does just blur together until it suddenly ends.

I think this is the nudge I need to finally give that PVA album a listen.
