Lana Del Rey - Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd

While I don't write off her latest material at all or think that it's bad, the soundscape that she's been occupying lately is just... not for me, for the most part. It either takes me ages to get into, or I have to be in a very specific mood to even want to. So a change of pace would be very welcome for me.

In terms of where I would want her to go next with her sound, I agree with what @Runawaywithme just posted. And I would mix that sound up with something that other people have also said already: a shoegaze/dreampop/trip-hop vibe. Sort of a lighter Ultraviolence, if you will. My personal niche dream point for Lana to reference would be Faye Wong. I see something like this working extremely well in her voice:

How long do we think the wait will be until the next album?

There has been rumors that she's back in studio already according to fans she met recently during Tour (and I'm just sure she actually did post a video with Jack Antonoff playing piano right beside her) so... Summer 2024 doesn't feel too far-fetched. There's also the "Unreleased Compilation" concept going around but I think we'd have more concrete information about that if it was truly happening anytime soon\real plans.

I've been trying to find the Imanbek remix of "Summertime Sadness" with Lana's vocals for ages now but can't seem to locate it anywhere. The version released has a terrible, pitched up male vocal.

FAYE WONG in a Lana thread? Bonus points for you. This woman, like Lana, is iconic!

Are you still thinking about doing a cover album?

Yeah, I want to. I’ve collected my cover songs for seven years. And I’ve said so much that I wanted to say, so it’s an awesome time to think about that. The standards.
Creatively, do you see yourself on a course right now?

The music took a huge turn from Norman, and it’s been going down that path aggressively. I’m going to continue going where I feel the only next stop is, but I think it’ll be in an Americana vein.

She's funny
Do you ever look at or engage with platforms like Genius, where your lyrics are reprinted and interpreted?

I don’t. And I’ve never corrected anything. In fact, not for years have I actually submitted my lyrics to anybody. Should they be out there, they’re not from me. I would never. Good God! I don’t even want to think about what I have to say.
Curious that she's apparently working with another songwriter. Inb4 it's Nikki Lane

I love how random her album titles feel.

Sometimes when she announces something I am reminded when a local newspaper wrote Britney's second album would be called Oops!... I Did It Again and I thought yeah sure dream on.

From Norman Fucking Rockwell to Chemtrails, from Banisters to DYKTTATUOcean'sBlvd, they really feel random, yet so fitting.
