Leon Else - Protocol

  1. It's good, but not single material.
  2. That voice!!!
    There's a video of him on Instagram with a song called 'Fresh Air' playing which sounds like it could be a fun single.

    He also cowrote this;
  3. He's supporting Foxes on her tour, so this could be potentially be brilliant exposure for him
  4. Leon's next single is called "River Full of Liquor" and it gets it's premiere this Saturday on BBC Introducing Kent
  5. Leon all on your mouth like liquor, like like liquor ~
  6. I can actually see him doing that.

    The songs he performed on Foxes' tour are all so different to Protocol, so I'm very curious about the sound, I wouldn't hate another smokey jam from him though.

    I neeeed to hear this in full http://instagram.com/p/dSDvf2snmX/
  7. He's properly brilliant live. His support set for Foxes was so strong. His voice is incredible, such a lovely tone and his range is awesome! There wasn't much cohesion when it came to the musical styles of the songs mind, so I'm not sure what an album might sound like, but all the songs were great as individual tracks and plenty of them had 'SINGLE!!!' written all over them.

    He did something with Popjustice a while back according to Twitter, though I'm not sure if it's seen the light of day yet or if it was for another publication Mr. PJ was writing for. He's been writing and recording in LA recently, including more work with Diane Warren!
    Excited for the new single!
  8. Maybe his problem is that he considers himself a songwriter first so he doesn't limit himself to a single genre. As much as I love his versatility, that could really work against him when trying to put an album together.

    For anyone who hasn't heard him live;
    "Refund"; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5ZqDZZRPpI
    "Purple Stars"; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weD7SLvpRiw
    "Beg Steal Borrow"; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqBgXJk9FSM
    "Man in Black"; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vssmAzHeiY0
    "Shiver"; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1RTujDJgbs

    I hope he releases Shiver at some point... Something about it reminds me of "God Given Name" by Solange but I can't put my finger on it.
  9. Listening to "River..." and it's another steamy R&B jam. It took two listens but it is fantastic.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01y29kz it starts at about 17 minutes in. Apparently, there's going to be an announcement on Wednesday.

  10. RFOL is on the PopJustice front page and it sounds so much better
  11. If he doesn't blow up that'll be a big popunjustice.
  12. Have been playing River Full Of Liqour non stop... Amazing.
  13. River Full Of Liquor is incredible, his voice is just so so amazing. Haven't been able to stop playing it since it popped up on the front page. No I'm just patiently waiting for him to go on tour so I can see him live again!
  14. Wow, he has a great voice and is really hot. I'm on board.

    Don't like the swearing much but that's because I'm a prude.
  15. He just ruined his sex appeal by opening his mouth to talk. A bit of a David Beckham moment. I prefer my men with a bit of brain.
  16. I think he has a fair amount of intelligence hidden away, the lyrics to Protocol are actually quite clever and well written.

    What spoils it a bit for me is the fact that he can't seem to end a Twitter/FaceBook status without saying "Yo" and I can't help but think to myself "You walk in high fashion runway shows and come from Margate".
    Other than that though
  17. The RFOL ep is available for pre-order;

    1. River Full Of Liquor
    2. Cheap Hotel
    3. Messed Up (Live)
    4. River Full Of Liquor featuring Skeme

    Cheap Hotel sounds gorgeous. But July seems a bit too far away to wait for an EP.
