Leona Lewis

I highly doubt she'll get a number 1 release week, she has some competition from Iron Maiden the week before and other releases that week are Bring Me The Horizon, Stereophonics and Duran Duran. Now I don't really follow album charts normally, but those were picked out as likely to beat her that week on another forum.

I think she'll definitely manage Top 10, and maybe Top 5 but most importantly I just want some longevity.

Edit: Also the album has been pushed back a week in Germany to the 18th of September, presumably because they want her over there to promote it during release week. I am happy about this, its always been her second biggest market outside of the UK, so it makes sense for them to spend some time out there.

I don't see how the album can have longevity in the charts without a hit single.

Continued tv promo and radio 2/magic support.

Plus I said at the top of this page, I still think there is some great material to come in I Got You, Ladders and Another Love Song, they all sound like hits to me, all better than the songs we have heard, they just need to somehow get radio back on board or find another way to get them heard ie major promo push on them.

Will Young's album is continuing to chug along with 14 weeks in the chart so far and will likely continue for a few more months with a 3rd single. Paloma Faith's albums always sell really well over the long run despite most of her singles not charting well. Strong support from BBC Radio 2/Magic FM can really help drive album sales. Plus performances to promote the album help as well. I'm hoping they have a good plan for the 3rd single as a hit single would definitely really help the album out.

Thunder has entered the Top 30 on HAC and AC radio.

Its currently at 29 on HAC and will probably rise a few places over the next few days to a week. Its doing well on that format, I just wish we knew what was next, when they plan on sending it to Top 40.

It's everything I hoped it wouldn't be. The production's not great. The track needs beefed up in a big way, especially in the chorus, and the vocal seems too separate from the track. It's as though she just recorded herself singing over a cheap karaoke instrumental. Because it's not mixed well, the vocal sounds strained and sharp in places to me.

This is the track I've been anticipating the most, so I'm really disappointed unfortunately.

So we've basically heard the majority of the album now (only 3 songs left from the standard edition). I think hit and miss is an appropriate description...

I like I Got You but I agree, it needed to be bigger. More bass. That version she performed live sounded great.

And I really don't like Power, she sounds weird on it.

So 'I Got You' is almost incredible. The verses are amazing and pretty loud, but then everything goes quiet for the chorus? Maybe I can do a bit of tweaking when the official comes out and give it a bit more oomph on the chorus'.

Edit: There's literally NO hooks to this song though.

Please do this if you can. It really needs it.

It's also very short. Verse/chorus, repeat, end. There's no build at all, which seems to be a recurring theme with these songs. Only Fire has really gone for it on the final chorus. There's just no payoff, and I'm left feeling a bit empty by it all.

Yeah, it's good while it's playing but then it's over and gone. It should have taken queues from The Saturday's 'Not Giving Up' where it's just relentless but light and summery at the same time. It's almost there, but someone didn't quite finish up the production right. I think they were going for light and breezy but it absolutely kills the song.

I've got to say at this point I'll probably just stream the album once on Spotify and leave it at that. Nothing she's dropped has been above a 7.

I Got You is FLAWLESS! Her best album to date tbh

Really??? I think you and I look for completely different things from Leona. For me, this is her worst album by a considerable margin. Bar Fire and I Am, I won't be playing any of these tracks again.

And I should add that I'm a MASSIVE fan. I saw her live and the vast majority of her back catalogue (unreleased stuff too) is a big feature on my playlists. This album though? She keeps saying how personal and raw it is, but for me it's anonymous and bland.

Well considering this is her first album that she made from scratch on her own I think it's a good album. Maybe she shouldn't have done this as a comeback and let DefJam give her producers and writers where she could work with before creating an album on her own but I've always wanted an album that Leona made by herself with no extern influence. However, if this was the outcome after Defjam was involved then I would have been disappointed. Production wise it definitely can do better, but that's like I said she didn't invest hundred thousands of dollars in this album. I wouldn't be surprised if she invested 50,000 max in this album, which is not alot.
