Leona Lewis

I doubt it since the album is shaping up to be dull as fuck. I don't think Leona's career is going to receive the resurrection you appear to think it will because not enough people care anymore.

Doubt that she'll tour because you think the album is dull? Rather weird way to think. Leona's already confirmed she and the label have been starting to set up tour dates in a twitter Q&A. I don't think the album is going to be a big success or resurrect Leona's career to the levels it previously was (Spirit/Echo), but I think it could still be successful so long as she continues to release singles and get strong radio support from BBC Radio 2/Magic FM, along with TV promotion.

I completely forgot about I See You. I always thought that it was at least a top 30 hit (considering how big the movie was), but it didn't really chart.

It was made album-only so you couldn't download it from iTunes. Otherwise I think the song would've went top 40 in most countries even without promotion.

It did have a music video but yes such a mistake not releasing it. One would have thought Simon saw the money rolling but not that time
Absolutely. Avatar was huge, so why not capitalize on that. Very strange.

In other news (which I'm sure you were all aware of anyway), Power is now available on iTunes. I really, really love this track, definitely one of my favourites of what we've heard so far. Although is it just me or is there a weird skip at around the 2:24 mark. I heard it when it was released last week, but thought it was just because of the site I heard it on, but seems to actually be part of the song?

No, I doubt that all these "misconceptions" you speak of are going to change because of this album.

I'm well aware she has toured; she just doesn't tour like other artists/popstars which since she isn't dressing weirdly or falling out of clubs half naked or has a different man a week would help keep her in the public eye since she pretty much disappears from it altogether when she's not promoting. Even then, she doesn't exactly have a huge media presence.

What is your definition of successful? I'm genuinely not being facetious. Because, to me, right now she isn't particularly successful. She's just coasting along and I'll be happily surprised if there's any change.

I See You is my favourite Leona song.

It's one of mine too and I was forced to acquire it by other less legal means due to the fact it was album only and I didn't want the whole soundtrack and I don't like any song enough to buy a whole album for one track. This is just one of the many mishaps of Leona's career because I really think it could've been huge.

I honest think Leona will be out of a contract after the album drops. I know that she funded most of the album before Island signed her, but who was in charge of her A&R should be fired. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to centre an album around empowerment?! Leona may have thought it was a good idea in theory, but those professionals at A&R couldn't advise her that an empowerment album would most likely result in career suicide?! Working with Toby Gad just put the nail in the coffin.

If she wanted to get the empowerment message across, she failed because no one gives a shit about the lyrics if the songs aren't fucking memorable!

"Glassheart" is a masterpiece compared to "I Am".

I don't think they'll will drop her because surely they already knew how shitty she'd been doing when she was signed. It's not like they signed her while she was riding the wave of success - she hasn't been huge in five ish years.

I agree with you about the empowerment shit though. One empowerment song an album is more than enough for me (I usually skip them) but this seems to be an album of tracks saying all of the same things - and who over the age of fifteen really enjoys the kind of message these songs sell? Especially without catchy melodies, hooks and clever lyrics.

Some artists shouldn't be allowed to do their own thing because their own thing is shit. I don't really care if this is more "her" or whether it's the album she wanted to make. From my point of view, I only care if the songs are good. You're not getting bonus points from me for co-writing or funding this yourself, Leona.

If she does get a second album with them, it's going to be heavily A&R'd – and probably for the best, by the sounds of this one.

He/him
She has no songs in the top 1500 at the moment. The album pre-order is 242.

Judging by the proper clips, if they don't release I Got You, with good promo, they're fucking insane.

Judging from the HQ versions and snippets:

Really Good
  • You Knew Me When
  • I Got You
  • Thick Skin
Good
  • Fire Under My Feet
  • Another Love Song
  • Ladders
  • Thank you
Average
  • I Am
  • Best And The Worst
  • Essence Of Me
  • Power
  • Thunder

I mean that's only judging by 20 second snippets for some of the songs but that's what I'm getting so far. Overall it's not sounding like a terrible album but nor is it sounding like the comeback album she needed.
