"A Mess (Happy 4 U)" was co-written by Cass Lowe, who also co-wrote Bubbling Under #1 hit "All My Friends" by Snakehips featuring our queen Tinashe.
The song also features co-writes from Perrie, Jade, and Leigh-Anne. Today was the first day I realized Jesy doesn't have a single writing credit on Confetti so, er... take from that what you will.
When Jesy left, I remember a few people saying this should be the next Confetti single since the lyrics were fitting for an amicable breakup. Later we found out it wasn't an amicable breakup though so thankfully this wasn't released oop. And either way, I would've been mad if this was selected over "ConfettI" or "Happiness"!
This is cute. It sounded a bit dated on arrival though, this could've been on Get Weird or Glory Days. The middle-8 sounding like it's from a completely different song is a bit of a fun moment, and overall this is fine but I'm not checking for it.

The awkwardly titled "Kiss My (Uh-Oh)", Little Mix's final collaboration, was released as the fourth single from Anne-Marie's second album, Therapy. The track interpolates the 2003 hit "Never Leave You" by Lumidee.
After "Confetti" was a hit and "Heartbreak Anthem" smashed, "Kiss My (Uh-Oh)" got off to a slow start on the charts. It proved to a steady slow-burn and ended up peaking at #10 thanks to the Girl Power Remix of the song, which featured Raye, Becky Hill, and Stefflon Don.
Upon its peak, it became Little Mix's nineteenth Top 10 single. It has been certified Gold. *Sigh* this would also be Little Mix's final Top 10 single, as none of the Between Us singles took off.
I think the general sentiment is that this single felt like overkill after Little Mix had already released six other singles in the 12 months prior, which is why it took a while for it to do anything and then ended up eating up valuable airplay that the Between Us singles didn't get.
I remember being pissed as well that this was included on the standard edition of Between Us, back when it seemed like it would barely scrape Silver, while Platinum smashes like "Love Me Like You" and "Only You" were excluded. But in the end, this kind of became a hit so I guess it was fine (still doesn't make sense to be included over "Love Me Like You" though but I get why it's there in the sense that it was their most recent single).
Now that we're out of the woods, I can say that this is a fun bop. I was so unimpressed by it when it came out and I don't know what it was that made me come around to it, but I like it now. I don't think it's essential in the way that "Heartbreak Anthem" is though, so the fact that it's (potentially, for now) their final Top 10 single frustrates me, not when the Between Us singles were all great and deserved success.

LOWEST SCORE: 3 x1 (@Robert)
MY SCORE: 6.5

"Towers" is fittingly the last ballad standing from Salute as "Good Enough" departs next.
I don't know if the group has spoken about this before, but I'm assuming it's a favourite of theirs, since the song was performed in the encore of The Salute Tour alongside "Wings". Pretty impressive for an album track! (It was also performed while "These Four Walls" wasn't so that settles which piano ballad from the album they prefer).
I'll be honest, I didn't rate this highly at all for years. Even now my score isn't that impressive, but it's actually grown on me a lot. I think I just have to be in the right mood for it because it can come off as extremely dramatic and overblown if I'm not feeling it nn, but on the right day, it's a stunning ballad. Perrie's middle-8 in particular is gorgeous.

Confetti has mostly cleared out at this stage in the rate, with "If You Want My Love" leaving next. That leaves the four singles and "Happiness" remaining.
I'd say this song was a favourite for many people on their first listen of the album, because the production is very reminiscent of '90s Max Martin. They've previously tried the sound on "Private Show", and that's personally my favourite of the two but this is good too!
I can hear where improvements could be, but that comes with trying to replicate a very iconic sound and it's not like Little Mix were working with expensive producers. So as a tribute, this is cute.
