"No" was released as the second and final single from Between Us. It is also Little Mix's last single (for now...).
A sore spot for many of us, the Between Us singles didn't do well, and "No" debuted and peaked at #35 becoming their lowest charting single ever ("One I've Been Missing" notwithstanding), and suffice to say, has not received any certification.
When it was released, the Galantis remix of "No" received a semi-push, being used on some playlists instead of the original. The remix was also included on the Experience Edition of Between Us (whatever that means) along with album track "I Love You" (I still don't get the point of that). I'm guessing the remix received some treatment because of Galantis' name, the "Heartbreak Anthem" connection, and maybe just to see if it caught on on its own.
The video features the girls transforming their lazy boyfriends into robots who end up malfunctioning. It's a very cute concept and they look amazing, I just wish it had an outfit change or something (or they could've used more of the outfits from the first 30 seconds which don't end up being used again for the rest of the video) just to give it a bit of variety.
This wasn't confirmed anywhere, but my personal theory is that "No" was supposed to be the first single from Between Us. Not only does the video have more budget than "Love (Sweet Love)", but the standard edition of Between Us runs chronologically and "No" appears after "Kiss My (Uh-Oh)".
It's an odd choice otherwise to have "Love (Sweet Love)" appear after "No" and "Between Us" when the rest of the album runs in order. I think plans changed but I'm not sure why, because if they were worried about a Jesy connection, it's only "Cut You Off" that is explicitly about her (but more on that later). Oh well.
I love this song. It's the slightest bit derivative of "Sweet Melody", sure, but it still does what Little Mix does best - deliver a pop banger with aplomb. I have to shout-out the second verse, which has different production for each of the first three lines which was such an inspired choice. I also love that it uses the "Sweet Melody" template of having the chorus repeat twice with the full production.
In terms of live performances, there were no televised ones and it only appeared in like 2 of the Confetti Tour shows before being cut for the remainder of the tour. Welp. It was also one of the very few songs that had choreography on the tour, so we lost.
