Liza Minnelli

Liza (or someone purporting to be Liza) wrote on her Facebook page that there is a new documentary about her and her life that will be premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in June.
Sounds interesting, one of the all time legends and one of the last alas we still have. Should be a good watch if done right.

Hopefully it has decent detail, although I’d imagine it‘ll be like most bios when it comes to the stuff I adored most from their career, dismissing milestones in a sentence, but spending pages talking about guff. Tina Turner’s was a good recent example of this.

“Later that year I worked with the Pet Shop Boys on an album. It was wonderful.

I spent a lot of time in Milan over the summer……..followed by four pages about parties!”

Odd announcing it so far in advance.

I've tried to read some reviews of the documentary and didn't really get the sense that it's quite the in depth peice I'd really want it to be. On the other hand, it's Liza and I don't need to say anymore...

This is why I avoid most autobiographies. The worst sounding one is Belinda Carlisle. Apparently page after page about drug use with the occasional mention about doing a bit of music here and there….?

My favorite on the album, but an awful single choice. It may have got more airplay in the remixed form as the album mix was a little bit brittle. Love Pains may have done better as single 2 (although that was inferior to Hazell’s version which should have been top 20).

I Want You Now was a good song but not really instant enough for a single.

Results is a wonderful album but works best as a whole. It’s not really a singles album imo.
