M3GAN

I watched this last weekend and I thought it was fine. I did enjoy it, but I thought it was fine. It's biggest crime is that it was just so predictable. I know we probably weren't going in expecting massive twists and turns, but I would have liked it to deviate from the norm just a little bit.

M3gan of course is a great character and I did find myself smiling everytime she was on screen. She's got the brains, the sass and the voice. A true icon for our age.

And even though we knew her parents were going to die, sometimes I wish these films would give us some more build up. I would have liked to have seen a bit of home life, so that when she does eventually end up at Gemma's we could see how different it all was. I mean the emotion is still there, but sometimes it would be nice to not always throw us straight into the tragedy.

Overall it's an entertaining ride and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the sequel. I just hope they're brave enough to take a few more risks.

I finally saw this last night and, while M3gan - the character - was fun (loved the judgemental looks from her), the movie was just fine. It needed more camp (and dancing!) and perhaps to either be more self-aware or scary, or both. It still managed to be entertaining (and better than the Child's Play remake), but if I had to pick between M3gan and Malignant, I'd pick the latter any day.

Got my boyfriend to watch it last night - it went right over his head.

He's unable to extrapolate the meaning camp from how a stereotypical gay man acts. I had to keep pointing out that a 10-year-old girl* in a pretty dress stalking and killing people is camp.

The bloodletting in the unrated version was appreciated though.

Samesies, Meggers was just a little bitsy too in on the joke for me. Something something it insists upon itself _petergriffin.gif. I'll totally watch it again this year though, and I don't usually rewatch movies unless they're classiques.
