Madonna - 15th Album

he/him
I love gritty gay club music so of course Vulgar works for me. It's a little... Drag Race music challenge, but it's fun. M co-signing Sam & coming to their defense matters more than anything.

Popular is legitimately great. Her best vocal in years & the best attempt at early 2000s Neptunes I've heard in a minute.

Pretty surprised with the “push” so far because it feels like… something that would be thrown out there for no other reason than “it’s Sam & Madonna”. Would be absolutely fantastic if it managed to go anywhere.

I don’t know, but I like it. Did I NEED IT in my life? No, but that’s probably why it feels good to have something out of the blue without expectations.

I know I should prefer Vulgar just based on everything else I listen to but I find Popular to be the one that’s constantly in my head and the one I keep going back to. I guess I’m straight now!

I love the production and the Arabic influence. The song would work better if there were two icons on the track. It’s almost like it was written for Madonna + [insert A-list diva]. Sam Smith is… fine and they definitely give more of the limelight to Madonna here but it’s just harder to buy into. Also say our names feels oddly close to ‘say their names’.

Isn't the whole point Madonna being an ally to a queer artist who's currently putting up with the same kind of criticism's she's put up with? Released during Pride month? I don't think it has the same effect if she's doing it with Kylie or Gaga.

The point is for two queer artist's to have this battle cry song though, as @Drew said, it would not hit as hard if it wasn't with Sam.
I also think they say our name thing is intentional, as if she is stating that all the queer people getting killed everyday need to be remembered.
