I wonder if she would pull an MJ HIStory and package a new album with a greatest hits ensuring a high charting position.

She has been working on music for the past year and she started very early with the tour, as we saw for the videos she posted in the last month rehearsals are pretty advanced (and the tour is still 4 months away). So it’s clearly more than a song, I’m not saying it’s an album but definitely it’s more than a single just for the sake of it.
Good idea like the Hits Reworked/Ghosts of download Blondie released a while back. Although indont think that flew off the shelves
I'm honestly seeing a Greatest Hits packaged with 3 to 4 new songs at max.

I don’t see her being down for that, but we’ll see. She’s been in the studio for at least 9 months by now, so one would think she would have enough material to slap on a greatest hits considering she recorded all the new tracks for the Celebration compilation over a weekend. Like they could literally just use Frozen On Fire, Material Gworls, and Hung Up On Tokischa and it would probably be an automatic success off those streaming numbers alone. Also it would be kind of weird to release a new hits album when your tour is named after a different one.
The way this post calmed down my anxiety about a new album maybe not being in the works.

Nah. I mean I think we’re probably still a year out at least from getting an album, but I do think it’s obvious something more than just a few tracks for a compilation is in the works (unless she’s taking her sweet ass time, which she’s known to do lately).
She recorded original material with Sickick in October of last year
And she’s been in the studio with Mike Dean on and off for much longer than that (working on the Finally Enough Love compilation mainly, I’m sure), then there was Honey Dijon’s album press release from November confirming she had worked with M as well, and of course now we have Max Martin in the mix.

Considering it is the 40th anniversary I think a new Greatest Hits would be a good idea. A killer track list and correct single versions, a couple of new songs and a special edition version with additional singles.
Finally Enough Love has done very well and there is definitely a market for a really good compilation, especially as a tie-in with the tour. Then they could finally start with the album reissues, after reminding everyone just how great her back catalog is.

Well the reissues are apparently starting in June. They’ll probably just end up repressing Celebration if anything.

Right, do a comprehensive 2023 edition of Celebration with updated artwork connected to the tour, add all her singles from the WBR era, and finally get “Broken” and “It’s So Cool” on streaming. Done. There’s really no need for an all new set. They just have to fix what’s already there.
