Madonna - Madame X

I’d say Madonna’s history of activism and her humanitarianism give her the right to evoke unity and fighting for equality and peace in her lyrics. That you might find her rhymes gauche is an entirely different point of view from the sentiment expressed. She’s always going to annoy someone, but as always, cast a stone only when you’re sure you’re doing better. And even then, what’s the point if it’s to denigrate good intentions.

Absolutely no one said she doesn't have the right to evoke unity in her lyrics. It's the execution that is being questioned. Not the rhymes, though that doesn't help.

A few of you are burying your heads so deep in the sand that it's a little sad to watch. Popstars, no matter how legendary, are not gods. The defenses of these tone deaf lyrics are just weak as fuck. It'd be one thing if we were all talking about canceling her. But people are just calling out the lyrics. Do you think we should refrain from any criticism of her?

It's not Madonna if there's no controversy. I'm really looking forward to Killers Who Are Partying. With all of this criticism, looks like it's going to be one of my favorite songs on the album.

Yes, I'm sure that's the way she'll position the inevitable reaction to those lyrics.

It can be easy to forget that she's a boomer. I guess this serves as a reminder.

I think it's pretty fucking awful that you can read the valid criticism of the song, criticism that asserts that the track represents a speaking over of minorities, and then say, "This is sure to be one of my faves." This before you've even heard a note of it. That's pretty gross IMO.

It’s no more gross than having major ethical issues with Madonna’s music but buying it anyway?

Also, why is it okay for you to make assumptions about a song without hearing a note of it but not Rafael?

I’m not being shady, I’m just playing devil’s advocate.
