Madonna - Madame X

I really adore Dark Ballet. It's definitely the most curious thing she's ever released and not at all what I'd call single material but it's also one of the more interesting things I've heard from her recently.

In fact, part of me wishes it would go even more batshit and it almost feels too short. I'd be very happy with an extended version.

I think the video will only help enhance it and I'm excited to see how she performs it on tour.

Edit: Also, how gorgeous is that piano ?

Yeah, Madonna Infinity is absolute trash. There are a few people I like on the forum, but there's such a lack of intelligent discussion and the posters let so much offensive shit be said without calling people on it. You can say something straight up racist or exist over there and only a few people will speak up. For all Popjustice's flaws, I love how this forum will absolutely tear problematic posters apart.

That would be MadonnaNation. They are the worst when it comes to Madonna and other artists. The fact they'll be openly wishing death, making transphobic remarks etc.

I've never been on MadonnaNation and I won't be any time soon, thanks to this comment. I just can't do online toxicity any more.

I got banned from MadonnaNation in 2014 for having the Rebel Heart demos and giving detailed descriptions about them so... work. I never wanted to go back. Horrific website.

I only use Infinity for the incredible media section. Other than that I mostly just see complaining so I never ever post, really.

If I was going to give any criticism of the song, I'd say the vocals sound pretty weird. She kinda sounds like she has a cold, but because the song seems to revel in its jaggedness, I don't necessarily see it as a flaw.

Agreed! I posted there briefly during Rebel Heart era thinking it would be a nice place for her discussions. I decided to venture to other parts of the site and saw the awful stuff they said about the other female artists. One day I decided to defend Britney after them making gross comments about her mental health and then my posting privileges got revoked.

I really liked the added effects we hear in the video clip, wishful hoping, but I wouldn't mind if they released a video version on streaming similar to what Justin did with "Say Something".

Wait I just caught the "Can't you hear outside of your Supreme hoodie" line at the end. Drag them mom.

I’m so glad she’s gone in on the New York Times article, which was so maudlin and morose in tone. Like she’s a wealthy, lonely duchess on her deathbed in her mansion full of art and dumbbells and everyone’s coming in to say their goodbyes. I read it on my phone and I couldn’t believe how many paragraphs I had to scroll through at times just to get to a point even tangentially related to Madonna. And imagine the nerve of using her talking about her rigorous schedule to basically be, “So your sixty year old bones must be turning to dust, right?” Ugh.

To be honest I’ve found a lot of the interviews this time around to be fairly tepid. It’s like journalists are scared of her when really, she most likely wants them to get on her level and actually engage her. It’s been boring. I want a return of “if you ask a stupid question, take a shot” please.
