Madonna - Rebel Heart (13th Album)

I don't mean she should cover them. I mean where are the songs good enough to be break out hit singles that people other than us would want to listen to. In other words 'Where are the Hung Ups, Like A Prayers, Into The Grooves, Ray of Lights etc'. Her lyrical instincts are cliched and one note now :(

This. This right here is your problem.

"Good" does not equal success. Quality has nothing to do with it, though that's a subjective enough field to pilfer. It's problematic enough that you're claiming the likes of Happy is somehow as nuanced as Like a Prayer and that both songs share absolutely anything in terms of why they became hits. Also, mess at you think melancholy and downtrodden (for the record, I don't think this album is either of those things) are detriments to a hit when Adele is breastfeeding from her gold plated rocking chair in a mansion somewhere.

Welcome to PopJustice, where it's widely recognized that good songs don't mean big hits and big hits don't mean good songs. Is an argument an argument if one side is completely circular?

Of course quality has something to do with it. Agreed lots of bad songs become hits. But Madonna has a platform and media presence that most artists would kill for. If Snapchat was about to debut the video to a song as exciting, melodic, energetic as Express Yourself or Vogue or even Deeper and Deeper, she would have a major hit. Theres nothing to love in Living for love. Its boring. One note. It is not an exciting pop record. It's sad.

I have Snapchat and I literally can't figure it out. Do I have to download a new app, this Snapchat Discovery? Or can I somehow watch it on Snapchat?

Why is so confusing? I feel old as hell right now.

Your insistence that there's nothing in 'Living for Love' is boring, one note, unexciting, and sad.

Erm, swipe right a couple of times when you start the app, and then you'll see the Discover option. Press the one which has a little ghost A.K.A. the Snapchat logo. When you start it, you'll see a couple of previews, swipe right for the next one, swipe down for the entire article/video/recipe/whatever.

I don't think Living For Love is that removed from Deeper And Deeper. Also, SHOCKINGLY, not every single/song Madonna released can reach the heights of behemoths like Vogue or Like A Prayer. That doesn't mean everything else she releases isn't good enough (or else the majority of discography would be shit innit).

A lot of people seem pleased with Living For Love so your distaste for it is just well... your problem. It's no FourFiveSeconds that's for sure.

Sorry to be negative. i just wanted her to come back with a record that would be uplifting and make people want to dance. It's amazing anyone has sustained it as long as she has, regardless how this one goes.

They have been playing Living for Love in my local HMV (in Toronto) and WOW, it sounds amazing. There's something about hearing a song in a record shop or on the radio that takes it to a whole new level. Same thing happened with "Sledgehammer" by Fifth Harmony after hearing it on the radio.

I don't know about you, but the whole concept of 'Living for Love' is """uplifting""" and it certainly makes me convulse.
