Madonna

I'm reading the You Can Dance wiki entry and she apparently said this
"I hate it when people do master mixes of my records. I don't want to hear my songs changed like that. I don't know that I like it, people screwing with my records. The jury is out on it for me. But the fans like it, and really, this one was for the fans, for the kids in the clubs who wanted to hear these songs in a fresh new way.

Surprised she thought this way given how often songs on tour are completely reimagined.

Listening to the latest Erotica episode of Inside the Groove podcast (fantastic as ever) and I had no idea Patrick Leonard was so openly critical of Shep Pettibone and his remixes around 90/91. Seems quite unprofessional but he continued working with M so obviously she didn’t seem to mind.

Not Patrick Leotard serving 'do not touch my songs!!!' Lykke Lis.

he/him
I feel like "Frozen" is going to be the only new mix, assuming this is a full project. I don't see her working with Kanye on anything she's doing, but he could easily put her on a song of his, which he's done in the past.

I feel like we are gonna get more than just the new Frozen mix, it would make sense to add a few new contemporary mixes, but time will tell...

Say if the new Frozen remix gets to number 1 on the billboard dance chart, and Frozen has already been number 1 on that chart in 1998.
Does that mean she has 51 #1s or will that still just count as Frozen and remain 50?

Uncut Gems actress Julia Fox could soon be polishing up a new role in Madonna's forthcoming biopic.

After Madonna shared an Instagram post earlier this week indicating that she "went to dinner with Julia [Fox] to talk about my movie," EW has learned the 31-year-old performer is being considered to play the role of actress Debi Mazar, the singer's longtime friend. Kanye West, Antonio Brown, and Floyd Mayweather were also pictured in the photos Madonna shared of her meeting with Fox.

I found that so interesting too! I had no idea Pat had been so vocal. He probably regrets it now, because as you say it was a bit unprofessional. I suspect the outbursts were for a number of reasons. Firstly, I doubt any of her collaborators love it when she moves on from them, especially when they had been enjoying such success. And yet, deep down they must all know that that's how she operates and it was a big part of what helped her sustain such a long career.

Secondly, I think he genuinely meant it when he said that was Shep is "overrated". Pat is the consummate musician and songwriter, and he clearly felt that M was making a mistake by actually writing songs with someone who was up to that point, mostly a remixer. I still maintain that M's work with Shep isn't as strong as her previous work from a purely songwriting and melodic point of view. They're *very* good songs of course, but not quite as magical in terms of the actual melodies. But I don't think Pat could appreciate what Shep brought to the table, because Pat never seemed to appreciate any sort of dance music. Shep's production and dance nous was immense and so vital to the music she wanted to make. It was ultimately a brilliant move to work with him. Imagine if she'd asked Pat Leonard to co-write and co-produce an album largely centred around sex and dance/house/hip-hop music. That would've been...uh...interesting. I reckon Pat was just in the midst of a "She dumped me" tantrum, but they clearly got over it.

By the way, I was screaming at the guitar in the Bad Girl demo! I'd never heard that version before!

Oh well I'm pretty sure he still doesn't listen to rap. He's perfectly entitled to love what he loves and not have to enjoy every genre of music of course, no matter how many others do. And no doubt he has also moderated his opinions and statements over the years. He'd probably even find it faintly amusing to think that random nobodies on the internet would dig up old comments, when most people have moved on.
