Madonna

I think of MDNA as kind of the All For You of Madonna's catalog in a sense - both of them are post-divorce albums in which the artist is torn between introspection and accusation, and wanting to go out and party and do the single thing. I don't think either album gets the blend quite right. What All For You has over MDNA is a couple of KNOCKOUT songs (All For You and Someone To Call My Lover) that can hang out in the same neighborhood as her past classics. In terms of single potential, the strongest songs on MDNA are good third/fourth single options imo. But that "shut it down" lead single isn't present.

All For You doesn't deserve this

4 Minutes is well known here in the UK but I’ve heard Hung Up way more. I was literally trying to hurry a bouncer to get into a club before it ended last week.

You've cited two great singles there, but that comparison does the likes of 'Trust A Try', 'Come On Get Up' and 'You Ain't Right' dirty. I wish there was even one song on 'MDNA' that glimpsed the quality of those tracks - and they're just album cuts.

I am currently obsessed with "Be Careful" (the duet with Ricky Martin). I find it so amazing how deep and operatic her voice sounds.
And while I fux with the way she decides to use/process her voice these days, I do wish she could let us hear more of her organic voice every now and then.

It's one of my fave vocal performances too. No one could listen to that track and say Madonna can't sing.

As a Madonna fan of 30 years I never knew this existed!

Be Careful is gorgeous! How Ricky didn't release it as a single I'll never know, could have been a late 99' smash.
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that it was planned as a single but I believe they were not able to schedule to film a video for the song, so they scrapped it. It was even included in Ricky’s Greatest Hits Collection. I think it was a missed opportunity and would have been a top 5 worldwide hit for them.
